There would be about 200 kg of water too though, which also has a volume but not much as it fills all the holesFair dos.
I was thinking cube of premix weighed about 2 1/4 tons.

Using premixed sand/ gravel and cement. Takes about 24 shovels of sand/gravel and a 25 kg bag of cement.
How long should I leave it mixing? I was leaving it about 10min mixing while I sorted out the previous batch.
It ain't a grain shovel I'm loading it with! Will do a weight check next time.is your mix rate 25kg cement at 5-1/ 100kg of ballast 12 shovels at 8.3kg per shovel is that correct

Checked volume. One bag of cement was about 1.25 10litre buckets. Was 4 shovels ballast to a bucket I think.
any measurement involving a man and a shovel are going to be a bit hit and miss but it gives you an idea@roscoe erf was using what I would call a gravel shovel- like an oversized spade.
Was 22 shovels to bag of cement 25kg. This was for a shed for my hot water boiler buffer tank so will not be run on by machinery. Ready mix slab wasn't quite big enough.
Always thought the mix was done on volume not weight.
We have small areas of home mix used on farm but most ready mix. Always though home mix was weak but more likely we just never put enough cement in.
