Mixit slurry stirrers any good?

Just out of curiosity how do you watch you don't get to close to the floor with no leg especially on lagoons with liners?
I tend to gently lower the stirrer down until the impeller just touches the floor and then lift it up some - this is with the machine stationary obviously! The impeller wants to be roughly half the depth to get it swirling well. The auger will help get a real cyclone going on. Tremendous machines.

As above really. the lined lagoons here have a concrete pad on floor and up bank a couple of metres so as theres no chance of hitting liner.i had a jetter mixer for 4 years and would take a bit of convincing to go back due to running and purchase cost.have managed to mix all the same lagoons with a mix-it so far.

just received this from a recently supplied tower customer---------
the ram may have been bent by landing on the tanks edge.

Just a quick note to let you know that we have just completely mixed the store, not sure if I told you but we had a crust of green(nettles and grass) at least 5 feet thick.

Over the last 3 years we have just taken out the liquid with out stirring.

We thought that getting the tank mixed would be a winter project as we had to stir get what we could out then add more water and gradually more and more has moved. Will try and get you before and after photo's if your interested.

Only problem we have had is the lift ram has slightly bent I suspect from big "icebergs" going over the stirrer. If we were to replace the ram it would be better if it was a little stronger.

Overall we are very pleased with the performance of the stirrer, Regards Richard

a std 20ft lagoon stirrer comes with a walterscheid 2500 pto and an auger on the tube.
there are 2 ordinary impellers; 80-120hp and 110-150hp.
this machine is delivered for £1840 at the moment - brexit will put up the pto's before long.
the hvy m/c comes with a 200hp impeller and a 2600 pto
this is £2600

How much is a 3 meter extension? We've had our mix it stirrer now for got to be going on 12 years or more used on sand slurry and only on its second impeller. When we changed impeller we went for the bigger one and have twisted two ptos since but apart from that a brilliant machine!!

The larger impeller is close to the limit for the 2500 pto. I always suggest to contractors or busy stirrers that they have a 2600 series pto.
The downside is the doubling in the price of the pto. It is essential to use Walterscheid replacement U/J's as cheap ones are a waste of time.
These impellers do deliver 150hp - thus they are quicker than coventional single stage impellers and leave pumps for dead! The malgar type impellers cavitate - create a vacuum - if more than 80hp is supplied.
When stirring at depth (sand - sediment etc) the impeller takes more power so the U/J's are more bent and under full load.
Again, I recommend the smaller impeller in these situations.

With conventional stirring of crust at say two feet depth, the air entrainment reduces the power requirement and the angle is lower so the 2500 is ok.
Finally, to totally bore you, the U/J's MUST be equally bent to extend their life and give smooth running - better for the tractor.

The 3m extension frame with pto and ram is £1900 DELIVERED. This is expensive to send as it is classed as 3 pallets.

Ive a mix it and very happy with it, infact its excellent, fully recommend one.

Same, I bought John’s biggest tower mixer. It’s a fantastic tool, not something you could leave with any idiot though as it’s a beast even on a 200hp tractor. I’m getting phone calls from people wanting it to mix their tanks, probably a niche little market in some areas

Bet tractor drinks some fuel on that job,
Mine just ticks over . Mf35 could drive one if it had the weight too hold the thing takes a big tractor to handle it.
