Mobile dipper option on new grant scheme, £5616 towards cost of new machine. Based on Portaquip design plunge tank I believe at a cost of approximately £24000. Anybody out there got any thoughts on this?

Yes, is there more than one model now?
They do a larger double axle one, looks massive compared to the other one, probably more of a contractor job. Just want to be able to do my own sheep and bought in store lambs. Used to run a sheep shower (still have it) but not aloud to use it. We did contract with it but was in the summer purely for blowfly control.

Showers are ok for some things but certainly not scab which our vets say is becoming a huge problem, shame the grant stipulates hydraulic legs as the legs on ours takes less than 30secs to drop down and are perfectly adequate for most farmers. Just checked the website and the new portequip dipper has some improvements over ours , namely the run down ramp is full width where as ours is just a narrow guillotine and ramp and often a ewe gets backwards into it blocking all the others🤬. Other than that nothing has much changed and it’s easily capable of dipping 1000 ewes a day with just two people.

2000 litre tank minimum, dripping pen area which drains into tank, hydraulic system for unpacking/packing up, entry and exit ramps. Tractor towed road legal.
Single axle portequip fits spec for 15k your wanting to go bells and whistles

it’s a bit more sophisticated than ours as we just have a wire rope around a winder type set up for jacking it up but it works easy enough.
