Mobile Phone - SIM Only

EE Direct. Took a couple of attempts. They were at £10 odd and wouldn't budge then they did my missus a deal on Sim-only so I rang back and they beat it slightly.

I've been with them years as in the end they'll always get to where the other deals are.

It helps as we don't need much data as we are on EE Landlines so get the Free 5Gb.

Thanks. Perhaps I’ll give them another go. Looking to move 3 Sims over from Virgin, not needing more than 4-5 Gb of data, but they’ve not been jumping.

Currently Plusnet would save nearly £150/yr for a similar package, on the same network, even without being able to reclaim the VAT (they refuse to give VAT receipts these days😡)

Been looking around this morning at phone deals as the old S8 has one drop too many and the screen appears to be bleeding.

Came across this for those looking at Multi Sim deals.

BT so it's EE and £5 off if you have BT Broadband.

BT

Three also have WiFi calling... I find them competitive Vodaphone probably the one with the best for network coverage
If you are considering a “3” sim get one on a one month’s trial before you decide that it works for you - then if it does you will be an “existing customer “ and get offered extra discounts 😉

“3” are offering 12gb + unlimited txt and calls fir £8 per month to existing customers at the moment

Anyone using VOXI or Lebara sim onlys? Both using Vodafone nerwork, VOXI launched by Voda as another name tailored initially towards young people but opening up now. Vodafone are getting expensive with their deals now and won’t grant me the new customer deals etc. Stuck really with voda as it’s only one that works in my workplac. Been o2, BT and Three over the years. Voxi have very good deals for a 10gb type a month contract

I download broadband invoices from Plusnet and they are all marked “This is not a VAT invoice” which I’m pretty sure is designed to deter business customers using the domestic (cheaper and more competitive) offering for business purposes.

It still shows “£22.94 inc VAT” or such on it though even though it isn’t itemised so good enough for my purposes.

No Problem

£22.94 / 6 = £3.82 (VAT) X 5 = £19.12 ( Before Vat)

HMRC say that is that there is absolutely no problem is claiming the VAT back even if you don't have a VAT invoice. What is important is that you can provide evidence that you have been provided with a service and that you have been changed VAT for that service.

The non-VAT invoice says that VAT has been charged on the calls and Plusnet is are large company (part of BT) who will be VAT registered. That will provide enough proof for any VAT inspector that you have been charged VAT which is all that matters when it comes to reclaiming it.

Their VAT Registration No. is 245719348 which you can write on the bill if you like but it is not necessary."

This was exactly my logic and what I currently do. Very helpful of you to explain it so clearly and concisely though.

Just thought it was worth mentioning the way some companies try to hoodwink people to paying more for business "lines" for business purposes.

It has their vat number and clearly shows the vat amount, so it's a vat invoice in my books! 😂
Edit,
Just looked my latest Plusnet mobile bill and clearly shows the vat amount and doesn't have the this is not a vat invoice line.

Well, I have a business contract with P/N and do get a vat invoice ;)

Why the reluctance to have a business deal?

It's more expensive.

I moved from Plusnet to John Lewis in order to qualify for their 'new customer' deal of £20 inc line rental & VAT. John Lewis' service is provided by Plusnet, including the good customer service centres and the same 'this is not a VAT invoice' message.
They deal reverts to full price after 12 months, so have just transferred back to Plusnet as a new customer, on an 18 month deal for £18.95/month (inc line rental & VAT).

That'll do. :)

It's only the Plusnet (and John Lewis) broadband invoices that have the 'not a VAT invoice' on.

Thank you for the clarification. I have been reclaiming it anyway, thinking I would argue it if we had a VAT inspection. Glad to hear I won't need to. (y)
