Mobile sheep dipping

With the rising levels of scab will there be a return of compulsory sheep dipping and will there be a growing demand for mobile sheep dipping?

can't see it,some people are affected by op so no gov body will want to insist on people having to use it,also the env agency are wanting to clamp down on the amount of chemical being sold (and incorrectly used )so before long it will become harder to purchase and use dip,in my humble opinion,maybe mobile dipping will become more popular but as i said it will be harder to meet legislation

we have dipped more sheep for scab this year than ever before and now they have found mites resistant to injectables it will probably get worse
Its a bloody joke....once it was a notifiable desease now nobody cares a jit. I could take you to at least 5 scab cases within 3 miles mostly bought in store lambs..not there fault I inject everything but it seems time is running out for that.Resistance

I have heard of mites living in the injection site of cydectin I'm guessing it was the 1% stuff and my brother has used dectomax on a bunch of store lambs twice this year!
Does any non op dip work on scab? or has it got to be the strong stuff, all these grants that are about they should really look at issues like scab and fund dip disposal

Same with me Sean we have dipped more sheep for scab it's becoming a massive problem all over, Not just in hotspots. I do agree with you with the gov and env will probably make it harder especially with the env already raising the disposal cost this April

To my knowledge there is no non OP dip that will control scab

I didn't realise it wasn't down with you :eek::eek::eek:

It is still very much a notifiable disease in Scotland.

(Although, I don't believe many 'fess up to it if they have it:mad:)
From 1970 until 1992 it was notifable, however In England and Wales now local authorities can force you to treat your your sheep or take other action if the disease is present in your flock and you don't take appropriate steps

I know someone with a mobile shower and was 2 weeks behind just from local authority work..

I thought showers were no good for scab?
Showers arnt designed for OP dips. The dip isn't licenced to be used in them. So technically they are classed as illegal for use with P.O Chemicals. Personally plunge dipping is the best way to completely eradicate scab 100% in one go.

I know this Neil (y) how come the council can make farmers use a shower contractor then?
