Yeah yeah, I know we are supposed to be saving the Planet and what have you but.....???

WTF, do I have a 100hp tractor with an economy PTO that cannot be used for more than an hour, else the berluddy DPF lights start shouting as the engine does not like running at 1500 RPM.

So I then pop the tractor PTO in 540 and crank the revs up to 2.1K for 20 odd mins.... Or I park up, push the magic button and let the damned thing go through it's Regen cycle, engine revving it's nuts off for 20 mins.

Why???

Id suggest she isnt right if shes wanting to do an active regen after an hour ( even if very light load ) .

I think it's sh1t too. Think about the car's doddering around town....all clean around the school etc..... as soon as they come into our part of the world where they drive a bit faster what do they do? Burn the sh1t out of the dpf. Thanks.

The DPF does not release any more particles than at other times while it regenerates. What it does is actually incinerate the soot particles at a seriously high temperature, which leaves a tiny amount of ash behind, trapped in the housing. This ash accumulates very slowly with each successful regeneration until, eventually, after many thousands of hours of work the DPF reaches the end of its service life. It is possible, on some larger engines, to swap out the DPF element and fit a service exchange cartridge, but for smaller engines it is a throw away part. However I have heard that some users have had some success power washing the element through the gas entry pipe, which is meant to extend the element's service life by a couple of years of a few thousand hours, Don't know how successful that is,

It's a bad do when the DPF will not regenerate on a tractor pulling under some degree of load at 1500 rpm though. I'd have thought this would be ideal conditions for automatic regeneration with no fuss or enforced stoppages.
