Modern scraper tractor DPF problems? And views on JD 5E

Yes, run out of stock. I know they will take several weeks/ months to come from a new factory order, but that doesn't help when I need the tractor yesterday. I'm confined to looking at what's available.
It’s pot luck with stock machines. Generally Jan and Feb are the quietest sales months of the year, probably why they keep lower levels of stock, Sales wise things kick off in March/April.

Thanks all for your replies. I've looked at the options today and the John Deere linkage seemed quite lightweight, plus I am worried about the DPF.

I've done a deal on a Massey 4707 global series, Much heavier build and a better spread of gears. Plus no DPF to worry about.

Two farms I work on have them and they have been fine both have done over 1500 hours, what problems have you had
loads of problems, dont drive them myself luckily, have seen three, they were all crap, the shuttle mechanism is a load of crap, it'd be easier to list the things that are actually alright :ROFLMAO:

Is anyone using a newer model tractor for scraping duties? (Of any brand) How are you finding it?

We're looking at replacing our 30 year old very worn out scraper tractor with a new one. I just wonder if the DPF which they all have fitted now is going to be a pain with the tractor never doing any very hard work for a period of time to get everything right up to temperature?

Or is it a case that the automatic cleaning cycles keep everything in check and it's a case of leaving it running to do its thing every few months? They only have a little 2.9l 3 cylinder engine so they shouldn't take too much warming up.

We've got a DPF on one of the main tractors and it's never been a problem, the light just comes on every 6 months or so to say it's cleaning and you don't know anything else about it but that tractor always tends to be doing heavy work.

Also has anyone got any experience of the little Indian built JD 5E series? We're looking at a 5058E.

Look forward to hearing any views.

I had looked at a 5055 at local dealers but recond it too long to turn into our cubicles an 885 can turn in but a 995 couldn’t

We had one of the small Deere’s for the last 4 years we had the dairy, a very useful machine, the pic above was when I cleaned it up before selling, it was bought second hand in the first place hence why it came with the loader,
Before that had a little case jx95 which was a super little tractor, manual injection Cummins 4bt, pulled an absolute treat even got stuck in at harvest, had the 4wd version to get up the slurry ramp but a 2wd would have been equally as handy!
