Mole ploughing cable

Hi folks,
Has anyone here every ploughed cable in but had the mole stuck out the edge of the wheels on the tractor? I’ve to plough a lot of cable into the verges where the road is above the verge and wondered if having the mole plough out the side of the tractor. It won’t be down deep, only about 300mm down. Just wondered if anyone has tried it and found it doesn’t work. Wondered if the tractor won’t like it on the arms as it’s all one side.
Thanks
Mark

Should think a heavy enough tractor would be ok, it's not like it will be lugging on it's knees and at speed is it. You may have to fabricate a frame anyhow therefore make it strong enough but you can always reduce the shearbolt strength on the plough leg

Hi, yeah it will be on a 720 so will be able to just creep on the road with it hung out the side. I’m hoping that it will work as it saves me digging about 3km with the digger rocking about. I think a big piece of box across the rear links will be strong enough or some H section.

We thought to make a rear linkage frame and then a strong frame off the side of this bolted and welded together and make our own mole plough out of inch plate with some hard faced welding down the front of the leg and a 40mm solid bar for a mole on the end

Having ploughed in over a hundred Kilometres of fibre optic cable with a vibratory moleplough made by Vermeer the vibration is key. Always thought when I was on that job the cheapest way for a farmer version would be to get a shakaerator and just have a single leg left in place.

In your case you could use the leg behind the tractor wheel

300mm is bloody shallow! What are you laying?
