Not sure if its the weather, yet we have moles in field that have never had moles in before!

Does a ground aerator/slitter help?

Hi. Just joined the group and finding my way around!
After three weeks and almost daily trap checks just caught the sneakiest mole ever. Almost went for the 12 bore method but its bloody cold standing around. I now believe in trap shy moles and the Talpax

Talpax?
Not something you'd buy from the ladies section in the Chemists' then?

Had three moles out of the same run over the last fortnight. A hard well established run next to a roadway using a scissor trap. Set so it trips fairy easily, covered with moss then soil laid on top.

You need a good main run in hard ground such a gateway or next to a path or track. Even a lazily set trap seems to catch them there. Exploratory feeding runs out in the field aren't likely to catch many however carefully I set them.

Repaired a leak in an underground alkathene pipe yesterday. Mole run was 2 foot down running across the pipe. The mole had gnawed a hole in the pipe, or maybe he'd been down there to drink from a pin hole leak. Either way the hole had got bigger and turned into a big leak.

How’s everyone getting on with trapping in this wet weather? Getting no luck here, only traps full of soil no matter how tidy I prepare the run!! Have alway had better success during dry spells.
Drives you mad day after day resetting and moving to a new position when you know you spent so much time getting the turf up right, smoothing the hole out right, firming up the bottom etc just to find the trap full of earth. What do you use to firm up the excavated tunnel?

Tried few things, using an old T spade handle at the moment but been planning on fabricating a tool with a 90 degree bend 1 inch pipe on one end and a spike on other end. Would do two jobs then!!
