fact every year the UK looses between 12-30 thousand acres of farmland, countryside whatever ? to development, dosnt take much working out that this just cant contine on this scale ? what with our population increasing faster and faster? by the day ? if we have had just over 6,000 so far this year come by boats and i bet the figure is alot more because thats those offficially caught? might sound racist but facts let im all in then see what happens?

Talking of ripping up great swathes of farmland, do you know what is happening by the railway bridge on the Snetterton Eccles rd. @nick...
Replacing the bridge.
Compound for the works.
New bridge craned in November
Open around 18th Dec.

And yes it's a bloody pain going round. The other bridge has a fair few battle scars now.

Not so very far from me, our main route onto the a11.

I was told the M20 has had piping installed along its length with pods situated underneath to allow for the installation of mobile/static loos and shower blocks for a lorry stacking operation.

I hope not, but can't see that it will be any old industrial site.

And will it go back to agriculture when all's said and done? Not likely.

I reckon these huge holding areas will end up like the extra hospitals set up for the thousands of cases of ChineseVirus we were going to get. Not used and disbanded.

Why do we panic so easily these days?

The irony for agriculture is that for years the site was earmarked to be a new home for Kent Wool Growers, RIP

If that is true, planning needs more looking in the direction of some of the crappy damaged greenbelt land around some of our towns. Also some consideration to the agricultural potential of land which seems to be overlooked. I would think most in places of power have little consideration towards food supply safety and see importing as a more viable option.

another fact in my part of essex, local council basildon has been running the call for sites, which says they have to find land to build 28,000 homes by 2034 ? anyone knowing essex will know every town from Rochford, Maldon, Chelmsford, basildon, billericay, braintree, etc etc has the same pressures? Down at Hullbridge another vast estate being built? along from the carpenters arms roundabout another vast estate now under construction, all on what was , is farm land? this is my local area the place ive lived all my life now under sustained attack by development, the roads ,rubbish, traffic, inferstructure , call it what you like will not be able to cope with this ? where do all these countryside presenters live dont they see this?

YES get some of it built on my land, then ive the choice take the money and run, its all the thousands that have no choice and have to suffer the extra stress? simple question is it good then to build on so much of this land ? what happens the next time once the lands gone its gone?

Stuff the next time. 100 years I'll be dead. Most of Europe will have packed in due to low fertility rates . China will own everything so folk won't get avast where the next bit to be tarmaced is. And it will be better for it.

I feel your pain, same thing going on around me a lot of landowners got huge amounts for building land and though it came close none of mine got zoned yet .
But all the negative aspects of the spreading urban sprawl ,trespass, rubbish dumping, theft, and worst of all traffic have arrived .
It saddens me to see all the fields now growing houses retail parks and service stations whereas in my youth the were farmland .
Also i think that the old sense of belonging and community is crumbling from the devlopment onslaught and even small things like getting the cows across the road for milking are getting stressful . Locals are always patient but the new folk would drive through them while screeching abuse .
Im not sure if using some of the best land in the country for devlopment is a good long term strategy but who am i only a simple farme !!.
