More power, less fuel

Now Then..
If you don't want to remap your tractor / vehicle I guess you need a tuning box of some sort.. The question is,,, which one??
Who has good experience of such tuning devices and what brands are recommended??

I got a Chip express one for our 5465 Massey
Transformed the tractor, took the torque curve up to where it needed to be

Interesting, did you have it Dyno'd before and after?

I believe your Massey shares the same Perkins 1106 engine as our McCormick MC135 Power-6 which is gutless.

Does your engine also have the stupid breather filter which costs ninety pounds a time to replace? I'm considering doing away with ours and installing a traditional breather vent tube down the side of the crankcase to atmosphere (or catch tank depending on how much drippage there might be!)

Not a fan of tuning boxes at all. Only add x% to the fuelling across the board. No timing enhancements, no torque curve re-shaping, no boost control, no egr delete etc. Plus points - safe if only a mild boost. Can be swapped between tractors of same engine.

(Good) remap for me, every single time.

Not dyno`d before
But definate improvment in torque at pto speed, before used to just die when powerharrowing
And no noticeable increase in fuel use
Not running any hotter either
Ours has a standard air filter

Can't remap the McCormick or Massey ECU to my knowledge, I believe it's a Cat ECU on a Perkins engine?

Interesting thanks, I'm not referring to the air filter btw, there is a breather filter for the engine that filters anything the breather spits out, which in turn then goes back into the sump.

Yes you can, has to be done in boot mode, so open case on bdm machine
