Any one supplying morrisons / woodheads on their shorthorn scheme, and if so how are you getting on with it? Do you think it would be possible to get good enough grades (o+ or better) with shorthorn x dairy? Tia.

we cant do any good with angus or herefords no weight and fat unless out of conti cows good well farmed shorthorns out of fresians seem to do well.[bullocks only)
Struggle with weights in Angus heifers and too many o+ was wondering if the shorthorn be any worse grade wise as get a premium for o+ with Woodheads shorthorn all Holstein Fresian x

it might depend on the bull you use but would imagine you would be quids in with shorthorn and woodheads.

Morrison's do a subsidised bull on Shorthorn Sires UK ( other bulls are available through Shorthorn Sires UK ) worth a look.

The calves are bought mainly off one farm and I am looking at alternatives to the lim and Angus they currently use but their main criteria is easy calving so was wondering if their are any easy calving AI shorthorns or alternatively persuade them to try an easy calving blue which they are not keen on

They went as stores , and no great demand around here , The BlueX were way better .Used a couple of BSh AI sires and found the gestation rather long ..... Much prefer to use the Blue , as plenty of short gestation bulls available .Find them better than the AA
Thanks for that. Can you remember which Ai sires you used? Think I will try to persuade the dairy to try a blue. Was also a bit concerned if shorthorn job gets over done, at least blues will attract decent prices anywhere

Thanks, that's an interesting read. But I do wish the shorthorn society would be honest, if that's the right word, about what percentage shorthorn blood bulls are. There's a bull there sired by a Viking/Norwegian Red
