Word of mouth is more effective. If word gets out that you rape and torture folk you catch on your land, then folk usually stay away. Works well for me. Unless they don't put up a fight, that's always less of a turn on for me somehow.

Signs to keep out don't work. Only ones I'd put up are in case of any liability that might cost me. Signs in English particularly don't work. Signs in German, French, etc seem effective.

Perhaps there's a moral in there.
