Need some for a hard-used place; tried gateway mix, tried so-called tough lawn mixes, all failed. Suggestion for this toughest of locations* greatly appreciated.

we have astro turf cow tracks, they last.
But you can get some plastic mesh, that lets the grass grow through, no idea what it's called, but it works under the grandkids swing, in our garden, and you can mow over it, happily,

I've sold a lot of this , we ever used it on a private airfield to land planes on

Coldstart 100 Grass Seed Mix (100% Dwarf Ryegrass)

50% COLOSSEUM Dwarf Perennial Ryegrass - WINTER ACTIVE

50% CERETEC CENTURION Dwarf Perennial Ryegrass - WINTER ACTIVE

100% Winter-active grass seed mix, that is specially developed for use at low soil temperature

Germinates and grows in soil temperatures down to at least 5 degrees (other Perennial Ryegrasses require 8-12 degrees)

Suitable for sowings 11-12 months a year (if soil temperature is 5 degrees +)

Rapid to germinate and establish (even in cold conditions), extremely fast growing, high wear tolerance, drought tolerant, great all year-round colour and has a high resistance to disease.

A perennial mix that will last forever unlike some competitor mixtures including annual ryegrass

Fine leaved grasses unlike tetraploids and annual ryegrasses

High endophyte level. The benefits of this are; stronger root growth, quicker establishment, resistant to insect attack, a bird deterrent and an overall stronger plant.

Ideal for Autumn or Early spring renovations. Suitable for all heavy wear sports and hardwearing lawn/landscaping areas

Colosseum was bred from the few surviving plants out of a test cricket pitch and temperatures down to -15 degrees. The surviving plants were crossed and resulted in a cultivar capable of withstanding extreme adverse conditions. It is used in many New Zealand stadiums including Wellington Park (Westpac Stadium)

Out of interest, being a nosey bugger, much of it have you sold? I would have thought such mixtures were quite a niche product, selling in low volumes.

I don't get overly involved in that side of the Company, but the Amenity and Landscaping and Sports sales are massive
Bit like Pet Food Hay
I've stepped back a little from that but when I started we sent over 100 ton out in big bales at the start of every week , to go into 1 and 2 Kg packs , and that was just me

Ah right, so you didn’t sell it, Hurrells did. I was struggling to see it selling in volume in West Wales.

Thanks chaps, shall have a look at the red fescue first; failing that I'll have a go with some of the Colosseum. I know a fellow who's brother looks after some sports fields and, being thick, hadn't thought to ask his advice, I'll see if he's got some and can spare a thimble-full or two.

Edit: @yellowbelly the dogstail is about as welcome here as black grass is on an arable place. I've a wee bit here and there in some rough patches, but the stuff can take off if it's allowed to, and to the cost of everything else...

I repeat I have sold quite a bit including 5 acres to a Airfield ,parks and and amenity sites in South Wales , some only need a few Kgs mind and I don't just sell in West Wales , a point Hurrells are happy with before anyone starts .
Do you really think this part of Wales consists of farms and nothing else ,
