Would reclaimed subsea concrete mattresses be any use for the job? 6m x 3m x 0.15m. Oil companies currently paying to get rid of them from decommissioned fields.
I would be interested in some of them. Where are they availble from?

I suppose they would have to be picked up from port, Nigg, Peterhead, Dundee etc. Worth contacting Decom North Sea. Probably a few down south as well. The issue is with the weight and handling as they are about 3 or 4 ton each and usually require a lifting beam to transfer.

I've been trying to think of a good use for these in agriculture for a while as at the moment most are sent to landfill or are crushed up for aggregate, I think they'd make good temporary tracks or for round wet gates. Possibly good for yards or shed floors as they'd be free draining.

Any other suggestions what they'd be good for?

Essentially precast concrete blocks cast with polyprop rope through to hold together and give them flexibility. Used for protecting subsea pipelines from dropped objects and overtrawl

Well they usually just lay flat on the seabed over the top of pipelines so not designed to be rolled.. Yes think they'd need covered with tar planings or whin dust as a minimum so maybe slipping into "more hassle than its worth" territory!

More like carpet, designed to shape round the pipeline, trench or seabed.. Aye I'm sure most folk would take them delivered foc ... Suppose you'd want the pipe as well?
