Movement records, EID inspection

Friend had 52 delivered to abattoir on the inspector's list and no paperwork to support..
As she only has half a dozen pedigree sheep, that would have been difficult. The inspector person agreed it was obviously an error - but RPA still docked their payment. They had to appeal, and won.
Shouldn't have happened.

Just wondered as I had a movement which wasn't on my ARAMs list but had been included on the inspectors list, and triggered a penalty, all sorted now and I must say all the RPA help line staff very helpful, but it transpires there is another set of data! how a fictional movement database will help with traceability if it gets muddled up with the real one, who knows, I can only assume that a bogus movement gets added in to check the inspection is done properly as they know it should come up as a fault?

Whaaaaat????????!
So farmer's SFP / BPS gets clobbered for alleged transgressions, while the powers that be sort out their own inadequacies?
You couldn't make it up.

At my recent RPA inspection the inspector found many instances where I had a record in my book + my AML copy but the powers that be didn't . This she said was fairly common as it seems that when I send in 6 AML forms in the same envelope the bods at ARAMS frequently process the top sheet but seem to forget the others !
She also seemed to think that there were many instances of the local trading standards still having piles of unprocessed paperwork from years back

The importance of keeping your own good records.
I looked at Arams and the list did not match my records at all!!
The problem was that ARAMS list correct, just didn't have the fictional movement, that could have only come from the RPA gatekeeper via the secure links, so my question is why, when the whole system is about traceability is the RPA themselves generating false data which gets in with the correct movement records? I now have a fictional movement to another real holding but with a ref no which cannot be crossed ref at ARAMS because it doesn't exist, but actually does cross ref on another system at the RPA!!

It is nuts isn't it?

OH isn't here for me to check exact details but it goes something like this:-
  • We had been sending sheep to market for several years correctly tagged (whatever the system was then) all the paperwork filled in.
  • OH had to ring up LA or AH about something.
  • Our flock didn't exist apparently.
  • We got a new flock number there and then - no I'll check on this - so guess it wasn't unusual.
Also we once sent two pens of lambs to mart and got a letter telling us one of the pens wasn't tagged correctly - nothing about the others.

If F&M or similar broke out tomorrow, I don't feel confident the system would work very much better than last time.

Perish the thought, but if F and M broke out tomorrow, the head of ARAMS would be in for a nasty little interview with COBRA by Wednesday and job hunting by July
