Did you have to get a section 75 on your house? Why was the mortgage a problem?
Whats a section 75? Because im self employed only 1 company would lend to us. We wanted to do it on my income only aswell. Wife isnt going back to work until she has had more children! Got there in the end but the fees for this and that is horrendous!

Is there anything more stressful? Add to that building that home. But we are in, nothing is finished fully, but I have a functioning kitchen, one finished bathroom, one partially and one along way to go. Now we have the battle with BT to look forward to. Changing to plus net, having a new line fitted and hoping to keep our old number!. Cooking Christmas lunch in a new kitchen is a challenge I am looking forward to, that and not having contend with cows calving, I insisted the bull came out in time to give us a clear run. Just one left to go:) The next on March the first:)

And to think it was @multi power all that time ago that encouraged us to go for planning. Thanks so much.
I moved "house" when I was younger then earlier this year I've moved " home " gone way over budget but with doing it up , but I see it as an investment so don't worry about it to much.

Didn't realise you were so young!

I am 36.

Moved farms, when I was 11 into small house whill farm house renovated.
Moved into farmhouse when I was 13.
Uni at 19 - flat, flat, overseas, halls
Moved in with fiancee at 22.
Moved when she qualified at 24.
Moved when 2nd baby on way.
Moved when parents attempted to retire.
And moved into our own place last month.

We still have some stuff in boxes from when we moved from uni to our first house. If you havent used it in 6 months, then get it on eBay unless it is some kind of family heirloom.

Considering a new buikd, what was your issue with it clive?

my fault really, got a bit carried away with spec once started and went way over budget, also ran in to problems with planners that caused delays and had a builder who saw opportunity to take the pee financially

The result was fantastic and worth it despite the above !

lesson all well learnt however and not being repeated this time round, last place was a big project but this one is a lot more complex

moved 3 times so far. First house just me and the essentials, then OH comes along and adds a females touch i.e house plants, books etc, then move again and all of a sudden we need pictures on the walls and more cupboards. Then onto house 3 and we need subtle lighting a rug in front of the fire and MORE cupboards to put all the things that we have accumulated.
Moral of the story is don't be afraid to have a throwing out session.

What the stuff or the female ? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

did you need to get an agricultural tie on the house? im going to look into trying to get planning to build a house on one of the farms with no house or steading on them, only thing is I don't want a tie as id like to be able to sell it in the future if ground comes up for sale and use it as a deposit

no, didn't need a tie, sold it now and wouldn't have been able to do that if it had a tie on it

You can allways get ties removed.firms advertise in yellow peril every week to get them removed, then adds another 20/25% value to the property

a tie they put on houses if they only get planning as its needed for a farm worker etc, how big a deposit did you need to put down and what was the rough build cost?

was there a building there previously or greenfield site? im looking into where best to put it just now

green field site. was a fight re planning but persistence pays

place im doing right now is existing building though, grade 2 listed and a barn that i'm joining together, much easier planning but lot harder dealing with listed people !
