Probably looking to replace mower for next season, lely 320mc atm, what to look for? And what to avoid, mounted 3m(ish). conditioner or not? Cutting sensible crops of grass for bales silage and some hay but also cutting thick rough margin grass

Since the change to big tedders from haybobs it seems to have gone full circle and people gone back to bigger sized straight mowers

Changed lely 3.2 straight mower for pottinger 302 2 seasons ago.
Far better built mower. Blade use has dropped dramatically
Have a 10 year old pottinger front and it's been faultless.

Never had a conditioner but everything is tedded and organic

Having run an 2.4 m John Deere moco for ten years I bought a KV Tarrup 3.2, it was terrible, changed the next year for a McHale 3100. It’s a good strong mower and way better than the KV but it’s no John Deere, that moco was formidable!
i really like mine, we had a famous 'jd1365' trailered before but i think the mounted is better, much easier to move around and use

Contractors around our way seem to mainly run krone mowers, and when time to change replace with new krone. Speaks volumes. I have a trailed JD , love it but no idea what I’ll replace it with as I don’t want a mounted one… anyway it’s all hypothetical as I’m completely skint .

Krone mowers have been ok for me ran them over a lot of acres worn 2 lots of skids out on one of them and had to turn the discs due to wear
Some of the new ones are breaking the tops of the bed off some of the lads have shown me they are pretty knackered
