Mowing with front and rear mounted mowers

In unfamiliar ground or when mowing for those that aren't that fussy I used to mow 1 or 2 rings with just the back mower. Better chance of seeing something in the grass that way. Having to go back to the yard to cut a full roll of sheep wire out of the conditioner took longer than it would've done to mow the rings with 1 mower.

Excellent advice, many thanks. :)

Interesting to see you can't go round corners or bendy bits?
I've seen a few YouTube videos where people seem to take curvy bits easily, should the rear mower not overlap the front one slightly?

I'm hoping the guy who drops the demo off (it's coming on a complete unit with another T7.210) will be able to show me most bits, I just like to swat up a bit first :D

Going one way you don't miss any on curves. But I can't remember which way :D

I always put rear mower against hedge. That way when we're on a farm where the tree branches aren't cut I'm not hitting cab as much and you don't know what foreign objects have been left on headland

If the T7 has mid mount valves and both mowers use spools to lift, you will want to set up headland management, as the front spool will be on the joystick and the rear on the fingertip, can't combine front and rear on the joystick. Another stroke of genius from the CNH designers.[emoji108]

Just to update, mowers came out yesterday on a T7, it was a classic armrest one so front mower was on a joystick and rear was on a manual spool.

Mowers were brand new, this was the first time they'd seen grass, once we got it set up etc I got going and started to get the hang of it.
In the first field it definately felt a bit alien but after an hour or so it became second nature. Definately found mowing with the rear mower to fence the best way to start.
Have to say the mowers were super smooth running, didn't seem too power hungry and the front mower in particular was excellent in the rough bits.

Took a few pics, dad was on our 210 with Krone as well.

Not necessarily. If you have a good dealer then my joystick is plumbed up so that the front links and one rear spool are on it specially for this case.
Works a treat.

Yes, but shouldn't really need dealer intervention, common enough set up.
Mid mounts have started to pack up on ours, so will plumb front links and service into rears.
Seems crazy on the new ones that you can allocate which lever works which spool, but you can't mix front and rear. Surely they are all on the same can bus system?

I got a pottenger on the front as well...follows the ground fantastically!

Thoughts on pottinger front with trailed (krone) rear?

Less outlay in one go, and can bring the rear mower in and out on corners to match,

Gateways could be a concern though!!

Give it a try.
I got mismatched mowers but mounted on rear. Yeah i gotta over run corners but overall its heaps faster and more efficient. Guess you have hydraulic opening and folding...if not get a ram asap!

Absolutely fine from a working point but would imagine will use significantly more power.
With a bit of screwing about rear trailed will get in any gate that front mower turns into.
Use drawbar ram almost constantly to minimise overlap, stops you getting bored!

Your back mower will only do half the work its doing at present. So take pressure off it.

We run a claas trailed mower with front mower and get on fine. Can adjust where ram pivots for better angle to match up.

Recently i bought a front alpha motion poettinger and trailed back. We used back trailed mowers for years and the next week i am gonna use the front mower for the first time. I am wondering about the first turns on the headland if i can turn with front down or it will damage. Because with back trailed mower we could steer without a prob. Thank you

You'll be fine, turn away merrily with your Pot on the floor, no issue at all!

Thanks a lot Spencer. I asked guys in my area, some of them told me that i should raise the mower when i want to turn and others told that its ok to turn with the front mower on the floor. So i didnt know what i suppose to do. Thank you
