Hi. Iv'e a 97 6170 and the electric fwd/rev is playing up. Has been since I owned it really but I'm looking to sell and would like to try and either cure it or even make it a little better. I'm aware of the 2 stick conversion but currently the kit from massey is nla and second hand parts seem hard to find and increasingly expensive. I've searched this forum and on more than one occasion iv heard of a fendt potentiometer being fitted which had helped. Has anyone done this that knows the part numbers and exactly what's involved? Thanks

If she is 97 a good chance it is latest incarnation. Flat shuttle toggle lever and bosch stamped on black potentiometer switch under cab around gear linkage side cover. Calibration might help if inside selector fork not worn.

I think it's the earlier version. Has a small rounded toggle lever on the column the same as my mates 96 version. I have tried numerous times to calibrate but to no avail. Up to now its been reasonably ok with just failing to select the correct gear but just lately it seems to start to pull away and then just let go into neutral and can do this 2 or 3 times in the morning when trying to turn round. Getting a bit of a pain now

selector fork worn? i know our 6180 got the manual stick and three years later got a new selector fork, weather it was a new fork when it got the manual shuttle i dont know but was told the electric shuttle did wear the fork more than manuel

Might be worth a go i suppose. So far secondhand bits to return to a lever seem reasonably expensive. I don't mind having a go myself if I can find an exploded diagram. I believe the selector can be changed through the side cover but I may be wrong

something tells me u have to split the tractor and take out the dyna unit and then u are looking staight at it, rather simple job or at least it didnt cost that much for us to change the selector and a few wee looms

Yep spoke to Someone today and was told I'd have to split it and take the dyna pack out. Can you rememer if the fork is in the dyna pack or is it just a case of removing it to gain access? I' trying to find some good exploded diagrams. Also unsure if the side cover needs removing aswell or can that all stay in situ?

i didnt do it but the massey mechanic talked me through it and i decided i didnt have the time owing to silaage. think the fork is behind the pack. the dyna is a sealed unit i think, getting fork set right would be the only thing i would worrry about, rest i take to be unbolt and rebolt.

The dynashift is on the front of the forward reverse shuttle pack located in the front of the gearbox, dyna isn’t a sealed unit and it’s all quite straight forward to work on, you need to split the tractor at the bell housing and pull the dynashift and shuttle unit out of the front of the gearbox
