Muck on sheep grazing

Have a pile of over yeared cattle muck, well rotted, how long would I need to leave between spreading on grass leys and grazing ewes and month plus old lambs? Any legal / farm assurance / experience intervals stipulated / advised? Thanks

Don't animals shite on grazing grass !!

Even RT wouldn't bring an absurd rule that you can't graze grass that has had muck on........ or perhaps they can ........

Didn't George Useless expect every farmer to use manure instead of fertilizer.

Get it spread and grazed.

Good point, just they don’t sh!t on grass at the rate I was going to spread it.

my old vets told me to leave it a month before grazing after putting fym on

Iv spread it on while they’re still grazing in the past if just going on lightly

I think that is ideal, but with the Autumn spreading ban we are running out of options to spread it all on the arable

i've a hunch that ban might get lifted....although with the dry winter doubtless the n levels in water will drop and EA will proclaim 'it worked'

Hope so, but if they don’t we are limited where we can spread in the Autumn, and if it’s wet in Spring we will be limited to spreading before maize only.

Spring grass will eat well rotted fym in no time with very little rain to wash it in

Muck strips (wide strips) on grazing land then alternate in a few weeks works well.

I thought that you should keep animals off mucked grass for 3 months? (RT?)

I did it once and grazed a few weeks later, lost 3 ewes one night.

We spread all the time on ground that’s being grazed. Especially in spring we put a few loads on each block of ground so we don’t cover too much clean grass then a fortnight/3week later go and do the same again until we’ve spread the whole farm. Then repeat…

spread it and graze it, but not too thick, anyway, I think you get more bang for your buck by spreading a light dressing over a lot of acres, rather than plastering a smaller area.

George Eustace says spread muck to replace fertliser, however am I correct in thinking there is an autumn ban on muck spreading? And I read a comment on a thread on here, about FYM in the spring being spread on arable crops, ending up leaving residue in the straw, so not very good, so what is the answer for the arable farmers? Spread on stubble and plough? But that goes against any ideas of regenerative agriculture.
