Mulch deck mowers

After some low life scum stole my ride on mower I'm looking at options for a new 1.

The previous machine was a mountfield tractor style, deck underneath and a collector. But that never got used as I made my own chute to just spread the grass. I never used to mow the farmyard grass as often as I should for this machine to cope with so now I'm considering a mulch deck as I'm sick of unblocking the chute!

Looking at around 1m/36" deck and the Stiga is currently the only 1 I've been suggested. What else is there? Is the stiga well built to cope with uneven verges? Opinions please!

My stiga titan is very strong, cuts well but its a more commercial model , I had to buy it used to make it affordable, RFS ex- Stockheld park. The stiga dealer is nr Easingwold A1 garden machinery helpful lot when I popped in to get some filters.

Stiga and mountfield are the same company with some common parts/models

Just had a quick Google of the Stiga Titan, they're some money! Might have to find some extra grass to cut to justify 1! I think it must've been a Park model I saw in RFS the other day, for a low usage user would they be up to the job?

@TheEarlOfMoray I'll have a look at Husqvarna thanks!

Used to have the Park Pro model, was fine and did the job. Just lighter duty, the Titan is a bit of an animal ...;) Ours was ex demo with a good chunk off new (y)

We have a park pro it’s about 20 years old been a good mower until last year when it put a piston out the side of the block. Found a engine in eBay out of a scrapper it’s now good as new

I post the same thing on mower threads year after year. Buy the best used commercial mower you can find. A 10yr old commercial will still be better than most domestic.
Fabricated steel or cast alloy decks as opposed to poxy pressed tin. The difference really is night and day.
For mulching and not collecting I'd be looking at a ferris or scag zero turn ride on.
How much is the stigma in question?

See if you can get the mountfield version. They are the same company. Castel garden machinery.

It was a very brief chat with the chap at RFS but it was in the £3-4000 region for the Stiga

We had a 48 inch Castlegarden and it broke my heart trying to keep the damn thing going. It was replaced with a Kubota G1600 that is at least twenty years old but will still eat anything put in front of it, including one of management's young apple trees . It's an ongoing project with repairs to the deck being made over the winter but at least there is something solid to work on.
