Multidrive Sprayers

I am looking into one of these as I like the mechanical drive idea over the wheel motors on the self propelled sprayer I run at the moment. And also the faster road speed. Not that I have had an issue yet but there will be one at some point inevitably!
I’m looking for user experiences, any ideas on parts availability, knight spray packs that are fitted to them? Or any other tips or pointers would be much appreciated.
Thanks for you help in advance.

Really pleased with mine. My eldest machine is coming up to 11 yrs old now and still going strong. Not had a lot of bother with either of them so far.
Parts availability ....... Since McConnell got hold of them it's not been too good. But a company called Multispares has been set up by some ex Multidrive employees and they seem to get the parts out pretty quick. Seem to have a lot on the shelf as well.
Just keep them serviced and they should do you well.

Ah ideal thank you for that. The machine I’m looking at is a bit older than that but looks to be in reasonable condition.

We run two one on a sprayer and one on a lime spreader the weak point on them is the axles ( not so bad on a sprayer but higher loads on spreading job) we have just fitted two brand new axles on our spreader so it should be good for a while gearbox is a zf unit and is very good jd engine is ok usual head gasket problem but an easy repair most parts are fairly common certainly not a huge issue getting parts and reasonable to work on I would buy another no bother, what age and how many wheels studs on front and rear axles ( ten stud is best)

Thanks for the replies.
I bought the machine, a 2001 year 4200 machine with 7000 hours on. It’s a tidy machine that did last season well.
The main issue I have though is with the dealer.....!! When I went to look at the machine there were a few things that were agreed he would sort out, track rod ends, wheel alignment, radiator leak, air filter box etc. A fresh nsts test was also to be carried out. We agreed a price to change as I was trading in another self propelled machine. I was happy with the price given to me for my machine and didn’t haggle as there was the list of things to do before delivery.
A month or so later and the machine arrives. Radiator and other jobs done, but not the track rod ends or wheel alignment. Also when I tried to run water through it before doing a trial run at home, there was a relay gone and a safi valve stuck.
At the time of agreeing the deal I also ordered 4 new row crop tyres from the dealer to be delivered to me and invoiced separately. The amount to change machines was paid before delivery, but I did not pay for the tyres straight away.
When I contacted the dealer about the track rod ends he said that they had checked them and they weren’t too bad. I said it was agreed they’d be done before delivery and he denied it saying they’d agreed to check them not necessarily replace them! It is nigh on impossible to get the wheels to align properly with the play in them which affects travel on the road and in the field. I researched the price of the ends and found them to be around £500 each!!! Slightly more than the tyres. It then became clear why he hadn’t changed them!! So I said I’d pay for the tyres when he supplied the ends. Nothing then despite a letter and emails. And then out of the blue a court order comes in the post to pay the outstanding debt for the tyres!! I had no choice but to pay then obviously, and am now still getting nowhere with these bleddy track rod ends!!
It makes me so angry that it was agreed that they’d be sorted out and now he’s just denying it. It’s even listed on the email he sent me with the invoice for the machine!
So basically, what are people’s thoughts as to what I should do as I am getting nowhere. I won’t name him yet but have come close!
I would also add that the nsts test must have been a paperwork exercise as the tank washout system was all gunked up with residue, which I only discovered after spraying a customers crop of fodder beet and destroying it, even though I’d washed out with AllClear Extra and rinsing through with water. This then resulted in massive cost to me.
Altogether thoroughly peeed off, although the Multidrive seems to be a good machine.
Apologies, this is a very long comment!!

Some track rod ends are available from vapormatic just check dimensions I think I had manitou one once. Had kellands man on the phone to me today just checking that I was still using them for spares as I have not bought anything since a while so they are trying to do business
