Multipurpose drill?

Is there such a machine that could work with or without a cultivator of some description such as a power Harrow or short disc in conditions like we are all facing now, as well as directly into stubbles for minimal disturbance when conditions are suitable for direct drilling. Probably needs to be mounted rather than trailed.

An old carrier drill woukd do some of that but don’t think it would work into stubble,on my land anyway.maybe ok with thinner points and into light land though

My student farm used a 4m carrier for everything for a few years but it would block and drive up if in a lot of stubble and worse if claggy. I wonder if a similar drill could be set up with a longer frame front to back to allow trash through more easily?
All pulled by an MF 590.

Weaving Sabre tine is what you are looking for - ideally with a front hopper

Do Claydon still make a front tank version of their drill ? that would work as well

Our Sulky range of drills can be mounted to either a Sulky power harrow or a Sulky XR disc unti. There would be not a lot needed to make a frame to use it with niether......

How much do the discs raise and lower on their pivots.looks as though there is ltd movement and the spring tines have not a huge amount of movement either.just a query

you can adjust the pressure on the spring to give anywhere from 0 to 100kg down ward pressure. So you can sow grass seed through to beans as deep as needed

We are hearing about all these people dragging their tine drills out for this years wet weather drilling. What is the issue of running one in a normal year i.e the frontline drill? wide, quick, what's not to like?

Obviously not in a no till/direct drill situ

Exactly what I've been pondering? Rather than a rapid for the dry season, combi for the wet and strip till as well, wouldn't a decent tine drill just do everything needed? Could even DD with something like a sabre tine?

Now we have just 220 acres I wanna spend alot less time on it. Stop ploughing all each year. Tine drill is fast, wide, goes through ploughed ground, through cultivated ground, doesn't cost an arm and a leg. What's not to like??
It drill beans??

I did just this, went from a Vaddy to a KV tine drill, much cheaper to run, much wider working window.

Crops dont look as well for the first month, but by the spring you cannot tell the difference and come harvest if anything the tine drill out yields the Vaddy.

Brilliant for beans.

Not as fashionable as a Rapid, Sprinter or now Avatar, but for putting seed in the ground, untouchable.
