Hello to all. I was wondering what the farming community thinks to using multispectral Agricultural drones for their crops and land. It would be nice to see what you think to this.

We’ve been using satellite NDVI images for 11 years.
We did try a service using a £40k drone, but the extremely high resolution images were rendered useless by a lack of lux compensation. On a bright day thin cloud meant that the images were near impossible to process, whereas with a near instantaneous scan from satellite it’s either ‘ok’ or not, and if not then the satellite will be over every 24 hours until a good image is obtained.

I used Hummingbird drones for a couple of years for NDVI and variable rate nitrogen & growth regulator. They were trying lots of other measurements too with the idea of getting to pre symptomatic stress/disease diagnosis but the camera technology wasn't quite there yet.

thank you for your reply. I been looking at the dji multispectral Agricultural analyst drones as I only fly dji products and they look promising units. Came on here to see if it something farmers did use. Just a lot of money to invest if nobody is interested.

I think you are probably a bit late to this party. A lot of work has been done into drone based imaging analysis of crops. Yet to see anything that produced a positive return to the farmer.

What region do you live in @Neil Evans ? The fresh produce sector is very interested in this - much higher value crops. It could be anything from a stock take of cauliflower sizes in the field to disease mapping.

I'm just looking to see if it is worth expanding my business into this field of work. That's why I have asked the question. Thank you for replying
