Mushrooms and Toadstools Everywhere

Obviously the enormous number of these this year is due to the weather (like the butterflies in huge numbers) and, equally obviously a shortage would be the fault of the farmers.

However a short walk across a few fields today revealed at least 8 different kinds of fruiting bodies.

Some of which were photogenic....

I took great (childish) delight in running over a football sized puffball growing on a verge. I spotted it when walking the dog along a little used track and deliberately went out of my way to squish it on the way home.

Edit: but yes, lots of mushrooms and toadstools about this year, some quite early too.

Just had some field mushrooms in risotto for supper (we're posh 'ere) picked whilst turn tips out this morning. Lots of puff balls coming too, and plenty of others I can't identify.

I made my daughter do her first emergency stop for a puffball (you have to practice these things if you want to pass your test) , good size so took it into a local restaurant and came away with a decent bottle of wine. I should think so, puffball starter on the menu at 6.50 a pop

Hope you’re not eating the red spotted ones, you might get a bit giddy! [emoji38]
A former hippy walking the power lines looking at trees showed me the best magic mushrooms. Nothing like what I expected them to be. Tiny little parasol with a nipple on top. He said they are class A and picking one is a offence.

I stick with beer [emoji3]
