Hey everyone,
hope you had a nice Christmas and new year, I am just wondering and thinking about mushroom farming, just wondering has any one done it before, is there still growing contracts about? there a old broiler farm for sale due to being closed down by sepa, so I thought I might try and lease it for mushroom,

cheers 🤙🤙

Big craze over here in N.Ireland (Along with angora goats) during the late 80s early 90s, think it only lasted a few years. Lots of empty tunnels now about the countryside. Direct marketing lions mane or shiitake could be viable in a smaller scale.

it’s a life style not a job ! There is a big market out there but hard to get in with the big supermarkets to shift large volumes without going through a middle man. Capital cost to staff up a smallish unit will be around 500-750k if your doing it right. Then biggest challenge currently is staff .
