Are you able to put silage strippings in yours? We started putting some in at the end of last week! We are also adding skim milk, which is painful at the moment! Due to fruit season!

it appears snow leopard have been working for years with niche AD process producer in the UK, apparently qila did not play by the rules when dealing with SL and there contract cancelled

it seams that local government officials working with trading standards some where in the midlands regards irregularities over these 52 KW plants built towards the end of last year and the beginning of 2017, seams they should be on FiTs scheme not RoCs, best to build these plants without any government subsidies

It seems like a lot of these 52kw plants have been mis sold, 30,000 ltrs a day is a lot of slurry and goes against not only T24 exemption but also ethical principles, if you are dumping digestate at 12-15 days old it will still be producing 80% of its harmful methane which is the whole point of efficient AD. I can see this being clamped down on by the Environment agency in the not to distant future.

Hi Duncan. This trading standards stuff sounds serious! They can be ruthless. If someone is getting ROC subsidy below 50 Kw, like the one my friend saw at a Bioelectric 52 (which is really a 44) open day, would they have to cancell ROC and have a FIT?

What is Snow Leopard? Do they do small ones?

Yes, but a bigger tank would cost a lot less overall in increased gas yield etc
From my limited knowledge of AD I have sometimes wondered if a clay or rubber lined lagoon would work instead of an above ground one.
I understand that the liquid is warmed but is there much of a difference between heat retention of earth or a concrete tower even with lagging?
As long as the roof could be sealed to the lagoon liner build costs would be cheaper IMO , maybe solar could be used to supply the heat to the liquid?

Have looked at using existing permastore before now, it is doable but would still work out just as cost effective building a new tank specifically designed for AD

I thought that the biolectric was the only slurry digester out there, that stacked up! Is there any 44/52kw snow leopard or quila plants in the U.K. Running?

How are you getting on chippy? What output are you getting at the mo? We have now been filling ours for 3 weeks! (Only 2/3 full) but I don't think that we are to far away from getting some gas to try the engine or heat itself!

Doing well. 1 engine is doing 500kw a day which is completely powering the farm and that's using 3000 gallon of slurry. Looking forward to next lecy bill. Would have had 2 engines running but wiring on 1 of the motors melted down to a manufacturing fault so waiting for new one to come. The big issue with them all is the H2S buy for some reason I'm not as bad as most. My carbon filter only 18% used after running for 3 month!

That is brilliant! You must feel good wiping out your electric bill! Have you reduced your slurry going in, due to only running one engine? So as the gas is restricted to 22kw worth! How do you feed / store your ad plant due to the cows being on slats? Do u have another digestate store?

3000 gallon seems to be just right for keeping 1 engine going 24/7. I presume 2 engines will want 6000 gallon. I have a 250,000 gallon slurry store under my slats with a submersible pump in which supplies a reception pit next to the digester that holds 10,000 gallon. I then have another 10,000 gallon tank next to the other one which holds the digestate. Both tanks operate automatically with float switches. The pump in the digestate store pumps it 300 metres to an outside slurry tower which is 275,000 gallon. My slurry isn't very fresh but it seems to be producing plenty of gas. I intend to keep my fresh slurry store about a 3rd full so its a bit fresher than it is now. It's currently 3 quarters full
