My Bridgeway Biostimulant trial

While putting together the last issue (5) of Direct Driller magazine I was proof reading the article about Interagro''s Bridgeway Biosimulant product https://www.interagro.co.uk/product/bridgeway/

The results claimed for this product in winter wheat last year were strong it seems so bit like I did with Adexar a few years back I have decided to run a few tramlines trials of my own for a bit of interest and on farm R&D and see ifs it really does do as they say here https://www.interagro.co.uk/case-study/bridgeway-improved-yield-in-winter-wheat/

So my plan is to try it at various combinations and timings over several fields, It seems to work by helping crops through stress and as it's so dry here right now for the time of year that could be tested strongly this season !

Plan is to do x 6 split fields - 4ha in each field

Field 1 will get the product at t0 only

Field 2
at t0 and t1

Field 3 a
t t0,t1 and t2

Field 4
at t1 and t2

Filed 5
at t2 and t3

Field 6
at t0,t1,t2 and t3

The standard recommended rate of 2L /ha will be used at all applications

Yield will be mapped and calibrated against our weighbridge much like the Adexar trial I did which was deemed statistically significant by the ADAS Agrimetrics team at the time. I will also test protein levels as there are claims re improved quality and take Brix readings to look at plant health through the season

To be clear I am not being paid to do this trial, i'm curious to see if it lives up to any of its claims and I believe on farm testing is the best way to determine that so will report results be they good/ bad or indifferent !

@Kevtherev @Ukjay @SilliamWhale this will be interesting. But please no arguments :D
@Clive is this the stuff we saw in your fridge on twitter?

The stuff in my fridge (much to my wife's disgust !) was Biofil which is a seed bed live biological complex that I am also trialing under various crops this year . The Bridgeway is a Amino acid bio-stimulant so quite different

Both should be interesting and I'm looking froward to results from all these plots, its seem a fact that we are gong to have to become a little less reliant on conventional fungicides in the future that's for sure

No arguments from me, it is purely a discussion of differing sides and I am entitled to challenge thingsjjust like any other person..
Some embrace things as early adopters, while some do not. Everyone is entitled to challenge.

Also, as someone else said - this will not be conclusive because of variables - but it will be a great start either way, which I really respect Clive for being so open about this trial, as he could quite easily have done it without telling anyone.

If it doesn't work, the nay sayers will obviously say we told you so, but that is foolhardy, as I am not able to ascertain from this currently what chems etc have been added to the land previously and what impact they could /may have on the results - but I would assume Clive will have covered all those bases, thus my inquisitive nature would draw me that direction than simply say it fails (if it did /does).

Every day's a school day for me (y)

I wouldn't worry about it. Biostimulant manufacturers are under no obligation to validate any claims of biostimulant effect either.

Sure. Its your money.

I've been given a bit to try, I was going to buy a bit and do a small trail / single timing but Interagro were keen to see it tested at various timings over more plots so that what i'm doing

I think all these crop protection companies should offer farmers small free trail samples really as on farm testing is the best way to know for yourself what does and doesn't work
