My cattle handling setup.

Well this is my effort of a cattle handling setup. Done it ourselves apart from rolling the box section for the forcing pen. Still a few improvements to do with cow flow. Need to sheet the forcing pen and race so cows can only see where we want them to go. Plus concrete to the edge of the sheds would tidy up that part of the yard.

very nice - only query (and an armchair one at that) is the angle of the race entry? - from memory i think the optimum is somewhere around 35 degrees was mentioned in a few places otherwise you get stalling..

The photo doesn’t show it but there would be maybe 25-30 degrees of angle on the gate to the race.

45ton of crate mix and 5/6 pallets of cement plus 8 cube of ready mix. Think it’s was about 1.5 cube per wall 6 inch deep. Most of the floor was 5-6 inch deep as well just as I don’t want to be back into it again.

Why didnt you have the sliding door behind the crush pulling out the same side as the work table? Good set up though.

So it wasn’t in the way when going up and down the pass. It can still come out to the pass side if needed but the doors have bars up top to push them over.

We've a walkway along side of ours and mucking it outs awkward. Its amazing the amount of sh!t that comes under bottom of race and forced out by the cows feet.

Was planning on having a walkway but folding so can muck out easier. Only got to that stage of completion last night and had the tb test this morning so had to make do.

The h beams nearest the cantilever are set out so I can extend the legs and roof the lot in due course.

Our race has stokboard down to about 6" off ground level. Its a good idea having the walkway so it folds up.

Don't leave it for ages till you muck it like we do! Makes it much harder.

never ceases to amaze me, what us farmers are skilled enough to create ! Well done, looks great. If you sheet the side of your race, make it removable - easier TB testing !

There’s a few things I’d change if I were to do it again like working in the lengths of the race to lengths of steel just to save waste but wasn’t thinking of that when I drew it out. Was lucky with the gates in the pens as they worked in perfectly with 7.5m lengths of box just cut in half.

Yeah was hoping to do it before using it but ran out of time for the tb test so just had to get on with it.
