I have a 4240s in bits just now, cab off, all panels off, re bush the front axle and cross shafts.
Pré strip down it was a bit scabe, very border line leave as it is or do it.
All I can say that it is a very big job taken it apart and a very big one putting it back if you have to fit it around other jobs.
I am ready to paint it, just trying to find someone to do it properly is very hard.
All I will say, a full strip down is not for the faint hearted.

Agree 100%, it's bad enough stripping down and doing Fergie's let alone a "proper" tractor. Have a Ford 7600 in the shed but fortunately it's in very good original condition, the spool valves leak but that's about it, so will leave it well alone. May in years to come do it but have a Cat D4 to do first (not looking forward to that one!!)

i must be getting old but i quite fancy a Ford 4600 - the tractor I learnt to drive on, a rare fwd one with Q cab would be nice !
Good story if you will be able to find one !. I learnt to drive in 5000s, 6700, 6710 but always loved the look of the Force II models and as the 6710 was dropped in the Force II line up the 7710 was the one I want. Missed the chance of bying a one of 8210 Generation III four months ago with only 2800 hours that litterarly looked like new

There used to be one where I worked but unfortunately not with the q cab, it was a Ford cab IIRC but low profile type affair. I wonder if it's still there!!!

Well worth using a cavity wax inside cab doors & inside cab pillars etc as they hold damp & rust from the inside out.
I have done a full cab off strip down blast and paint, it is easy to underestimate just how much work is involved.

That's right as it was expensive for what you got.
In the early 80's many were bought by those who could not stomach a 7610 with the rubic cube box. If the 7610 had had a better box even fewer 7710's would have been sold!
Once the Super Q 7610 with the floor mount H pattern box was launched the 7710 became almost extinct.

Shame though as they still look an impressive tractor to this day.
