The two extra bracing bars are to stop the twisting action through the main box section caused by the drop down angle added at the front to get the height right.

Well after being such a life saver in front hopper configuration this autumn / winter we are treating the CO to its next set of modifications

First parts arrived yesterday

Wet condition drilling with ULD Horsch CO6 and front hopper

I just realised i didn’t add the video of it working back in december to this thread now it has the front hopper option

this wheat is all up full row and had first N last week, it was much wetter at drilling than the video looks !

Interesting. Are you controlled traffic with the drill? If not, what's the pros and cons of using the same heading as last year against 5 degrees or so off?

we are 12/36 ctf - 12m Avatar does most of the drilling in a more normal year

this drill is 6 though so when used does add to trafficking area

i might just build a 12m in the future.........

Love these drill pimping threads, that CO must of bean the best return for your investment you have made kit wise?

yes, for what it is and how well it works then it’s really not a lot spent when you consider the cost of new drills today

on its own it would be plenty capacity to go direct drilling on 800ha or so I reckon or like us alongside a disc option the perfect alternative option for wet conditions or agronomic situations where a tine has advantages

Sorry if it's been asked before on another thread but how much WW did you eventually drill either as an area or percentage planned to please @Clive

103% of the planned area of wheat was drilled 100% of winter beans (50% avatar and 50% CO) and 100% of OSR (avatar drilled)

Wheat was drilling in October (Avatar) 50% then 25% in December (CO) and the remaining 28% in Early February (CO)

Of the wheat I think 95% of what we drilled will be ok, Beans look great and OSR is small but all still there!

Could you build a 12m tool bar to fit on the Avatar to make use of its multiple hoppers?

I have considered that but if i do so i can only use 1 drill at a time (so loose capacity) and year like this has proven the worth of the lighter weight and balance of the front hopper, it was the seed cart weight that stopped the avatar when it got to wet

What's the plan with all the new tyres?
