Hi clive!
You done a great job upgrading your co!
I wonder how you managed liquid fert adition to metcalfe points, maybe you have some pictures left.
And StocksAg small seed seader was gravity feed?

i don’t use the metcalfe points anymore but when we did we simply welded a steel tubular boss to the back of them that a stainless fert pipe threaded through held in place by a cap headed grub screws

Another smart job! What is the main advantage compared to the full width packer for depth control?

bigger diameter wheels keep turning better

but mostly the sprinter packer was about knackered, all tyres needed replacing and a few wheels were damaged so this was a cheaper solution. We don’t need the consolation that the sprinter packer offers as not using on cultivated soils

less rolling resistance and less stuff to block should improve its wet condition performance further as well

Bit more drill pimping - this time to aid safety and stability on the road and when folding and unfolding

.......... I think this may finally be finished now - if it runs well this autumn we will strip it, blast it and paint it over winter

Don't believe you a couple of acres and the next moment of inspiration will hit you if we just did this it would be so much better in this application or in these conditions. Its an addiction and its very difficult to kick!!!

We’ve done covers and rape with our so far and have got on well. Have become abit of an isobus convert after being a psynic. Found facility to swop metering devices electronically on the screen good between primary and secondary so even though running 80 : 20 divider had rape as primary in no2 smaller half and Fert as secondary in no 1. A really well thought out piece of equipment where everything is there for a reason.

Did it’s first full day working on Friday and I’m REALLY happy with it now, absolutely spot on for the job, it put over 100ac in in about 8hrs

Had a novice operator on it and did some training, it must be one of the least intimidating drills I’ve ever used. Visibility and manoverabilty is fantastic, it’s safe and stable on the road, very easy to set up and make depth changes etc. Easy iso calibration, blockage and low level monitorIng.

Can’t help but feel there is a gap in the market for something simple like this, able to run in wet or dry and not cost a fortune to buy ?

ive had a couple of people ask if we could get one built for them but so far said no

What HP do you Think you could get away with? 120?

I guess a lump of the cost is in the front tank.

I think you would want 150hp on a 6 m Our 724 could easy pull it if it was 8 or 9m - maybe even 12 if not deep or hilly ?

could build 3 and 4m models versions easy enough that would be very cheap and then I reckon 120hp would cope fine

Front hoppers don’t have to be expensive, you can pick used one up for under £1000. But if you want ISO etc and new then yes you can spend a lot more

do you think there is a market for such a machine assuming price was right ?

Yes I do, building the machine would be the easy part... becoming a dealer with warranty etc etc would be the crud bit... and then more cost is added into the equation.. Can you still buy the CO tines as every thing else is just fabrication, assembly of known components and the piping up.

I see little reason for dealers unless you started selling lots of them, its such a simple machine and adding extra layers only adds to cost, simple back up direct from the people building them better to start much as Claydon did when they first got going I recall

Can still get tines no problem, various sources cheaper that Horsch in fact - wear metal is Bourgault and very available
