Ok
Decided to try and bring the old Nordsten into the 21st century
Wanted to be able to increase seed rates from in the cab
So came up with this

20180809_185231.jpg
20180809_185258.jpg
20180809_185240.jpg

Red light comes on when rate is increased
Can up it by 20%

mount a cam pointed at the scale and see what you are doing, we have not scratched the surface of what can be done yet and for pennies.
when you look at spaldings or vapormatic prices and compare havig the same delivered from hong kong, you can see why the shops are running out of succkers to fleece.
having said that, vapormatic was within a pound of aldi on a big universal lock key, although i think the warranty is better at aldi

what would be the process on accord drill?
rotary stepper motor?
Just a worm drive motor (Wiper motor) on the end of the adjuster screw could do it. You could replace the adjuster with a linear actuator.

If you have limit switches like above or some other sensor/camera on the accord metering mechanism then you shouldn't need anything as technical or precise as a stepper motor on the adjuster.

or take a ground speed feed off the tractor computer with led to a speed controller driving a treadmill motor which turns the feed roller.
thats how i would do it i could only work out pos and neg in these new cables
add a cog for the rev counter pick up for a bit of precision.
a push bike computer will do this for a little more money, they run at a fiver each i think
and are brill for need for precision counting reveloutions

the op was talking about a stepper motor, so i assumed he had a rudementry working knowledge of electrotrickery.
on an accord metering unit, 3 things are needed, 1 the right fluted roller
2 turn the roller at relative to ground speed
3 adjust the amount you open your raincoat or adjust the exposure of roller to seed

Not me
I have a bog standard box drill, hung on the back of my power harrow

If I was younger and could muster up the energy,I think your linear actuator and a camera would do me on my box drill. But, your way with stops will be more easier to set.

basically make it like a more modern drill.
forewards speed is read by a separate source (laser, tractor computer or even meter wheel with a pulse system)
metering device on drill is then rotated by a motor.

to calibrate turn meter say 10 times and tell computer how much it weighs (it then works out how many kg/revolution then how many revolutions it needs to make to get to X kg/acre.

to increase seed rate on the go the computer would just spin the metering device faster.

(I don't know how to set this up but it will easily be possible!!)
just taken me about half an hour to change accord over to rape (1st time ever drilling rape and no book, red gear seemed well stuck, new about air baffle and small seed roller)

see, just what i said

Must admit I quite like the camera idea
I was thinking I might try and rig it so that i cut shut the drill off completely from the cab, so that i could work the odd tough bit a bit extra
Actually bought 3 limit switches with the plan of having the middle one mounted so that with the press of a bypass switch the acuator would take the lever right down to the off position controlled by a 3rd limit switch
But a camera might be an easier answer
Isobus screen can take a camera
