Ive just had a quote of 210K for 2000 metres underground including switchgear 20KV from the DNO, Hoping to get a quote from ICP to reduce this further ( 800KW connection)

some works can be done by private contractors (contestable) and some has to be done by the DNO (non Contestable)
It goes without saying the private contractors are half the price !!! worth looking into

Well done our Edurance E3120 still slogging though planning (9 months so far, think we have got there now). Western Power should get their pp through quickly it usually goes through on the nod on delegate powers, they got ours months ago, for us it also means a 3 phase upgrade. We had looked into getting 3 phase into our village a few times over the years, last quote over 2 yrs ago was £50+ and we just couldn't justify it despite the fact we are illegally on 100+ amp mains fuse as we blow anything smaller when everything's running on E7 in the winter. Now we are doing a turbine then WPD are effectively upgrading us for nothing as all we have had to pay is £15k for our transformer, if we ever get there!

it is a slow long uphill slog western power don't want to use their delegate powers here due to the council being complete dicks they said it would be quicker to put in for planning glad your nearing the end i have been given a commissioning date of September but i wont hold my breath all told planning has taken nearly 2 years :banghead:

It went into planning, it is the planning officer who used delegated powers.

We had a combined 128 objections to our application for a single turbine. Initially wanted 50kw but a 20kw still had the locals baying for blood.

Withdrew as there were people who would have appealed as far as necessary to prevent it!
It costs shed loads to defend and they know that if they shout loud enough long enough you may give in its a shame if it was genuinely not causing a issue

for why have you had such a rough ride

Incomers thinking they've bought the view! Locals are all fine about it. Its only a dozen households shouting about it.

I'll pm would my application link

Funny there was a piece in the north devon journal by CPRE saying how a wind farm had reduced house prices. You go on their website and they're on about houses being unaffordable for locals....err seems like they are becoming more affordable?

Frustrating I know I've never been involved with anything as long winded as this planning for a wind turbine reckon it would have been easier to get planning for a knocking shop :D
