It did drill through that lot yes, superior trash flow to the other drills previously talked about, watched them both block up, in not alot of trash tbh.. the protill was the drill of choice until the demo..
The DTS of 2-3 years ago is a different machine to what I have now on my farm since a few mods from Sumo. I believe my DTS could drill through something like that now, a few years ago not so likely as you found on your demo.

Would of been a 2014 model that I seen, it had some sort of mod on the leading leg to aid trash flow, it blocked in places, I don't think it had the latest stagger mod though, I'd like to think I was wrong about the DTS as it was a solid built piece of kit, in clean stubbles it did a really good job, n contributed to the super high yields of 2015.

I'm sure there are pros and cons to all of these strip drills of which a list could be compiled for them all, in our case the claydon was the better option n

The Claydon can come with cage wheels now....

...also, whilst I agree the there is no independent depth control on the Claydon, and seeding depth can vary, we've found... it doesn't actually matter! It's only a couple of days difference in emergence.

Hmm. Was that after the cover crop had been sprayed off for a few weeks? Leading tine swapped for a disc?

Never new Claydon had those tyres on them! Will give them a ring see what they say!

Had a look around a mzuri today. Chap was very happy with it!

Those are just transport wheels on the trailed machines, the tyres do not run in line with the tines and coulters, they run inbetween the rows, as far as I'm aware. The smaller tyres on the front are packer wheels that do run in front of the tines and coulters, for going into cultivated ground.

I don't think consolidation wheels are part of the Claydon philosophy.

The wheels on the rear tool bar are new for this season as an option for consolidation, the transport wheels are underneath the hopper front wheels can be interchanged with a disc option depending on what your desired goal is, the claydon has many many options and is a truly modular design to suit many different soil and condition types

Extrovert OSR. Drilled early September. 50 seeds. 66kgN + 60 SO3 a fortnight ago. You can see where the baler has been, but not the wheelings - it was a bit too many shrivelled grains growing in the swaths which has stunted the rape.

Field sad as it has a few mustards from the cover crop 3 years ago still int it. Grr.

Already a lot of good advice on here, I generally find 9kph a good speed. I use the wideband coulters for most stuff now, no need to run the legs really deep but you can do if you need to level the fields out or remove ruts.

I didn't know they offered the option of paddles from the factory, might try that this year.
