Can I get some thoughts on what to do with my wheat and remaining N? It’s barrel sown on the 1st of September. It’s had 65 kg of N so far with last dose on the 30th of March of 38kgs. I reckon it’s about growth stage 30. Nmax is 190. Was planning on putting some on next week. We are all Yara liquid. Thanks

Looks pretty fudged to me. Rain tomorrow might perk it up.

My agronomist was telling me yesterday how much better crops with liquid fert were this year.

Isn't the answer always 220 for winter feed wheat.
You could top up to 180. Surely it will rain near Aberdeen in the next month.
Would hope so but we are pretty dry. Often the rain misses this corner. It’s whether to put it all on now or half now and half in a month. It’s a long time between now and September harvest.

Without actually seeing the crop I would top up to about 150kg N and then review before flag leaf is out and then apply balance if deemed crop is worth the spend. Or at GS37 use N Tester to see? I’m sure your friendly Yara chap would like a ride out to loan you his tester [emoji1303]

I would say at least half the balance, and do it sooner than later regardless of any chance of rain in the forecast.
The final split should be on before flag leaf emergence to minimise scorch, but you knew that already.

We put the 3rd of 4 splits (liquid) on this past week, but it hasn’t rained since the 2nd application a month ago and it was starting to look hungry. If we get next weeks forecast rain in the Borders then we are back in the game.

We’ve done 80kg N and 38kg Sulphur so far exactly 1 month ago. We’ll go again at the same rate as soon as it rains.

If that crop has gone short of N at any time it was because it couldn't pick any up as it was too dry. I don't think any amount of Nitrogen would have helped some of the crops I have seen posted on this forum. If it's not in solution it can't pick it up.
We had less than 35mm of rain in March and April combined. A lot of stuff is struggling up here and winter crops are very short.
