National Beef Association on the wrong track ?

The NFU livestock board discussed this issue at their meeting last week.
At their next meeting in 3 weeks time they have a climate scientist as guest speaker. Any NFU member with a view on cows and climate change should continue to feed in to their regional representative.

I've been trying to persuade someone who's an NFU member to talk to their local branch contact about all this, because they have been upset by the NBA's actions, but the message that comes back to me is that their local NFU doesn't communicate beyond insurance.
No indication of any whatsap group or whatever was mentioned upthread for rapid feedback.

Are all branches equal within the NFU? Is there a, um, quality assurance system?

Any NFU member can find out who their regional representative is on the national livestock board.

(Have just put this in agricultural matters, but you all need to look at it so that you are forewarned on the imminent attack on your industry by the AHDB) .

The AHDB are launching a major PR offensive in Jan.
New consumer focused website. Social media blitz.

The central message is this:

In fact, all red meat and dairy only contributes around 5% of all UK greenhouse gas emissions.*

Last one out, shut the gate.

Just got an invoice from the idiots, think it’s a bit obvious that I’ve cancelled my direct debit

Who, the NBA ? This is the AHDB putting the boot in.
Please tell me there is a way of cancelling payments to the AHDB lol.
There’s a whole section on here devoted to AHDB where they post.
You could try pointing out to them there that the methane emitted by cattle is part of a carbon cycle, totally different to burning fossil fuels.
I don’t know wether they just post on the forum, wether they read replies or if they’d understand and change tack though.

Just had a look, sadly I don’t think they’ll take the hint from that, you will have to do their work for them and explain why they are s squandering 1.5 million of levy payers cash☹

Yeah that was just a knee jerk rant after seeing their post.
The bigger point is this: We have all been urging them on here for what, two years or more, to stop apologizing for cows and start doing their job properly. And this is the result; in a couple of weeks time they are launching a major public campaign telling folks that if they give up red meat and dairy they will cut their GHG emissions by 5%.
Shall we say it again: With friends like this who needs enemies ?

I don’t suppose they read too much of the wider forum though so the point probably needs to be taken to them in the ahdb section.
Unfortunately it’s probably too late for their upcoming campaign so that’s 1.5 million down the drain and the wrong message implanted in the publics mind.

Rather worrying, having a quick look at the ahdb section earlier, most of the replies to their posts seem to be critical
