Blocks on 8 week lead in time

No cement to the national concrete company's

4" osma pipe on allocation

H section steel very hard to get hold of
Have you moved?
NI is home to Lafarge in Cookstown, Quinn in Derrylin and Brett Martin in Mallusk so the only thing we don't produce is steel. Concrete, cement, blocks and plastic are readily available in Co Antrim.

A man once told me "you have 2 ears and only 1 mouth, use them I that proportion"

If I told the internet everything I would still know nothing.

Been trying this week to order RMC for a bit of apron infront of silage pit, just can’t get it, companies either telling me to keep phoning weekly or they just flat aren’t taking on new customers. This has been going on since April surely they have full production back on stream now?!

Just to add to the problem, Scotlands only cement works at Dunbar has shut down for "a few weeks" for unplanned repairs...

Well out of the blue yesterday i got a call to say concrete coming this morning, prompting a mad dash to collect a hire screed, and a late night and early morning setting up but it’s in 👍

Already posted this on another thread, but this was the local Co-op this afternoon. Sold out of bog roll and beer on a Friday, will this madness never end ?!?! 😱

Mate who does some subcontract work on the railways was telling me last night that the larger main contractor has almost ground to a halt due to lack of cement. That's a serious contractor with buying power to match by all accounts.

Phoned a local builders merchant a couple of days ago looking for trailer floor boards and he cut me off mid sentence and told me to phone back in a couple of months. Crazy.

Dunbars shut down will have a knock on effect with the bagged products as there is a large bagging plant on site

I was also told that they had a big job at a wind farm away to kick off, using tarmac cement from the Aberdeen depot, which is delivered by train from Dunbar, and I’d guess that will be on hold as well then

@Andrew1983 (who I was replying to when I mentioned Dunbar) is near the top of this map, whereas the nearest English cement works on Teesside isn’t, by the best part of 350 miles.

The tanker driver did say they just got 2 loads of powder up from England. Rival firm with quarrys and a few batching plants from Elgin/Inverness/Alness had 7 tankers running from Elgin up to a wind farm about Lairg as that was the only plant that had powder. I am hoping to get another 3 tankers organised for the first week in August.

Bit on telly last Wednesday, the rising costs of building material,,Jonathan Mateland looking at the ever increasing price rises.
One merchant saying his yard should be stacked high with materials but only had a weeks stock of bricks .
I was in Jewsons yesterday and the manager said they have been told from head office that Saturday morning opening will end and early finishing on Fridays due to low stock and delivery delays ,plus staff isolating.
The lorry was stood in the yard because the hiab was broken but they couldn't get the mechanic, again because they were short of staff .

Have heard through grapevine (reliable) that timber is starting to slow as timber is sat on docks Yarmouth and Ipswich and being offered to merchants at reduced rates to clear before next loads turn up, just need steel to follow suit!
