I just get repulsed as much when you hear (can't remember the stats exactly) that folks keep clothes for an average of a few weeks ? I have clothes that must be twenty years old ................

I've clothes of similar vintage, including a blouse that's made of hemp.
It's well worn, but it doesn't scare the livestock.

Like everyone else, though, I've bought clothes of manmade fibres out of ignorance in the past, I'm sorry about it, and now try to buy more carefully.
I'm not terribly impressed to find so many garments made from mixed fibres, though. It's increased in the last few years - as cotton prices have risen, and manufacturing quality has decreased.

You obviously don't wear them enough ---mine are all worn out after a couple of years at the most ;)

So do I. Even the spectacles I wear daily are surely 20 years old if not older. I had newer ones when these, according to my wife and daughter, went out of fashion but I was soon back wearing these again. They are now back in fashion again apparently.
I wear trousers daily that started out dark grey but are now, 10 to 15 years later, very light coloured indeed. They are also very thin and I've lost a couple of pairs due to this. I feel that before the end of this year I shall have to do this century's first and last clothes shopping, unfortunately.

I've got clothes that are 20-25 years old, when the wife or kids comment I just say 'It still works' (i.e. a shirt that still covers arms and torso, which is what it was designed for).
