Thank you for that Professor @Agrivator! You are correct of course, EBVs are the best objectve assessment of an animalOnly about 10% of a bull's worth can be judged on his appearance. The other 90% of his worth can only be judged on how his progeny perform.
Another fact of life is that a bull (or cow) fed and dressed for show purposes, looks to be a bout 50% bigger and grander than the same animal in poorer lean condition.
Ebvs , hasn’t it been proven they are not due to fibbing , I’m sure I read it here , turns out they are poppy cock .Thank you for that Professor @Agrivator! You are correct of course, EBVs are the best objectve assessment of an animal
I can't speak for everyone but the data I submit is as accurate as it can be. Unfortunately, there are liars and chancers in every walk of life.Ebvs , hasn’t it been proven they are not due to fibbing , I’m sure I read it here , turns out they are poppy cock .

Feed that accurate data back into the system and their should be. Although I would agree that the small size of the typical UK pedigree beef herd, and so the contemporary groups, does nothing to help accuracies.No. EBVs for a bull are estimated measurements of his breeding values.
How his progeny perform are actual definite proven obvious measurements of his breeding value.
Sometimes there is no relationship between the two.

But there regularly isn't.Feed that accurate data back into the system and their should be. Although I would agree that the small size of the typical UK pedigree beef herd, and so the contemporary groups, does nothing to help accuracies.
Calving survey data from the AI companies should be fed back in and would help but would result in more complications for those processing the information. But there regularly isn't.
The bulls figures are calculated on performance within his own breed, put himself Holsteins and it often goes astray.
