Navara due for a change

I would wait and see what the new ford/vw will be like, it’s supposed to be here in 2022. That is going to be my first port of call when I change. I just hope they have a sensible middle of the way one without all the chavy/gypo bling plastered on it.
Be interesting to see but I'm guessing it'll be priced in between what a ranger and amarok was so not ideal for many. Gotta hope it doesn't combine the worst of both vehicles which often these tie ups seem to do.

Spud - have you tried the new d-max? I have a 2.5 which has been a good truck - except it’s started regenerating the DPF rather too often. I do a lot of short runs and not enough longer ones so it’s probably my own fault - I’m told! I tried a new d-max and it’s a good improvement on the old one. What did not appeal at all was the 1.9 engine as I thought it felt very flat, bit short on torque.

Im not in the market for a new pickup at the moment. Maybe end of year I’ll have a think about it as current d-max will be 4YO. This being second d-max. Getting REALLY peed off with this DPF regenerating job as 30 to 60 miles seems excessive to me? What to do - that isn’t illegal 🤬🤬

York Van Centre lent me a demo ruck when mine went for MOT - workman spec which appealed. I have to say it went very well - there seems to be a phsycological barrier with the 1.9 engine - 'it's under 2 litre so its sh!t before I even drive it' kind of thing. Stick a trailer on and go for a drive round a regular route with one, time it, then do the same with your old one - there'll be nowt in it. They're chipable apparently, but as long as I aren't constantly having to change gear all the time and it has a low enough first gear to set off loaded without resorting to low box I aren't much bothered tbh. Some folk have to get to places before they've set off!

4yo is about when I buy them - this will be mine til the old farm truck expires, then it will become the farm truck. DPF is a pain - mine does it about every 100miles unless it gets a run out (much less this year!) but tbh bar the fact it does it, it hasn't cost me any money or hassle.

My friend has a new navara. Said its $h!t compared previous 2015 one. Mainly engine issues with regen etc. Been recovered twice and a year old.

It's a pikey chav looking thing. [emoji2357] :ROFLMAO:

I think all new pickups with ad blue and dpf are like it
Every time I take my 20 year old Hiace to the village garage, they just service & mot it ...then they tell me not to sell it as all modern vans are nice to drive, horrible to keep going & repair with silly sensor faults

Your trailer cant have been heavy yes they tow ok but i wouldn't say its great lots of up and down the gears and loads of revs! There a bit gutless without a trailer if your in a hurry or need to pass something, need the bags driven off them!

Two 1t boxes of spuds on the trailer.

Tbf I'm buying £10k 4-5yo pickups when you chaps have shouldered the first 15k depn, then running them another 10yrs, so longevity and reliability is more important than jazz and speed.

I can't be doing with charging about everywhere like the world's going to end, life's too short. Maybe I'm just getting old!!😂🙈

Depends greatly on the local terrain, hills sap power from everything but most pickups/ tractors etc can be only half the hp if working on the level.
yep the dmax tows fine until to hit a hill then you end up in 3rd screaming its bags off because in 4th you fall out of the turbos max power an it falls on its face

Built quality is shocking so id look else where for your longevity, pickups don't do speed but the time it takes to get it moving to pass something doing 40mpg is depressing! I think the auto box would hide its shortfalls a bit though

Don't overtake then! If it's doing 40mpg I'll be happy!
Forget Ford for longevity or reliability, not a Mitsi fan, Amorak and Toyota far too expensive, Navara nice but old ones break and new ones expensive and not made any more.
Which leads me to Isuzu. 146k so far and it's had a clutch switch and servicing. Averages 28.5mpg on very mixed running. Cost me under 10k at 4yo with 115k. She'll do for me!

How fast are you trying to go? Mine pulls and pulls and pulls

Take it to Feather Diesel in Elland - They will sort it ...... It's where main dealers send their problems.

Currently got a 2013 3.2 Ranger due to a DPF issue it's been removed and had a remap it pulls like hell but it's let down by typical Ford paint and cheap metal. Despite being undersealed at 3 it's doing a Navara as the chassis is made from Baco foil. The bodywork is bubbling a'la 1982 XR3.

Looking at buying a new Hilux Invincible £28k before VAT which is £7k more than Ranger was. Waiting list is April/May 2022 really hope Ranger chassis lasts.
Should have bought one of the last 3.0 Anoraks.
Landy looks attractive but have seen too many scare stories regarding reliability it will also struggle to cart family about.

What's the ranger like on fuel?
It loves the stuff. 22mpg average from new.

but to be fair as I’m sure your aware we live at the top of a big hill and it spends most of its time going up and down it pulling trailers.

leave the trailer behind and get it on a decent run and 30mpg is easily achieved.

I used to have a V8 petrol disco before the Ranger which seems very frugal by comparison. And on the few miles a year I do the fuel bill isn’t very big anyway.

A 4 year old Hilux invincible with average mileage will be closer to 20k.
That's why Toyota sell so many .

Just curious, what are you towing around all the time?
Builders utes seem to spend the most time towing round these parts, farm utes not so much.
I think orders have filled fast in the last week or two here as the PM has announced a new charge on pick ups and other "polluting" vehicles. Up to$5000 on a new one I think, starting next year, they're bloody expensive as it is.

Stock trailer mostly or a flat trailer for fetch and carry jobs
