That's a shame if it is the same. From
What I gather, if Nissan had added mud shields there wouldn't have been any of this. I might be wrong. Maybe the new np300 chassis have better coating on them. I doubt it though.

More to do with the spec of the steel used, been banging on this drum for years now, some steels seem to turn into rust in a short time.
minis generally used crap steel in their rear sub frames, ford mk3 cortina estates would mostly have rotten tailgates, i had a mk2 escort rot through on some interior panels.
diahatsu put good steel in their f50 chassis but absolute crap in the bodies.
just rebodied a grain trailer, some panels without a blemish and some rotted completely.
got an old TK chassis here, 1 rail full of holes, the other side nearly perfect.
trouble is we dont have the knowledge to ask the right questions and the manufacturers dont seem to care

Maybe they use Kobe steel?

I know there are plenty of threads, I have read them and thought ok, this can be sorted. Called them up this morning and it's when they said there is the likelihood they won't sort it out as it's out of corrosion warranty. It's not the dealer that has said that, they didn't know their ass from their elbow. It was Nissan uk.
I mean come on. 22 days out. It's not 6 months a year etc. Not even a bloody month out.

Small claims might be the way forward. Or a lawyers letter. Makes me think twice about going to order a new np300 off them if they are going to be that unhelpful.
Don't you have any kind of protection when buying stuff? If our truck (which we don't have) bent its frame in under a month after the warranty expired, we'd still be protected, because it isn't ok for stuff to break right after warranty. So virtually we get whatever warranty plus 2 to 6 months of "non-reasonable breakage" protection.

The story is different with farm machinery, but we buy cars as a normal consumer.

Buying as a consumer from a retailer you have 6 years on new and as long as could be reasonably expected on SH.
buying for a business you have far fewer rights, there are a few exceptions to this for those in the know and with deep pockets

Keep a diary of all correspondence
Best to contact them (both) in writing and get advice.

Push hard (whats another 6 months), you are badly stuck without it, but will gladly hire, until its sorted

Yesterday just bent the chassis on my truck where it's corroded. Looked fine wasn't. Spoke to Nissan. Gave them my chassis number. They said the corrosion warranty ran out on the 27th September. So it's unlikely to do any thing about it. What a bunch of idiots.

It's going to be a ball ache I think dealing with them. It's not like the corrosion has happened in the last 22 days. Maybe they be gracious and accept it and sort it. Some thing tells me they might be awkward about it though.
How old is the pick up?
Is it pre 2010 or is it all d40's if it's all d40's this will make them all worthless.
There's an eleven plate one coming up on a farm sale soon will be interesting to see what it makes

It's all d40's that have problems.

Twitter works well at letting the whole world know the situation Nissan have left you in. The marketing departments that try so hard to build a brand don't like to see it ruined by stories like this.

would have thought most folk with a Navara would have heard of the problems and been and had an inspection, and would hope any garage doing repairs on a Navara would have a look at chassis out of interest so as to be able to advise their customer

It is not so long ago that when this subject was discussed here, that some people were in total denial. Maybe some owners are still in denial and I wouldn't be surprised if some mechanics, especially ones working for main dealers of other brands and mainly cars, were quite ignorant of this issue. I talked to someone the other day who mentioned that his nine year old Navara had broken in half and he was oblivious to the issue until it actually happened to his own. The first he heard of it was after the event.

Go online and fill a form out on the dvsa website and state it snapped when driving. They are very hot on this at the moment along with vauxhall fires. You will get a call from Nissan quicker than you think resolving the problem.

It's all d40's that have problems.

Phoned Nissan up about getting mine inspected when this issue was big news a year ago.
Gave them the VIN/serial number and was told this would not be one of the affected ones. 08 plate.
It has affected values on all D40's though. Equivelant age Toyota's & Mitsubishi's are worth £2k more.

You mean to say that a ten year old Farm pickup is worth more than £2k?

Only kidding. Just about.
