What simptoms did it have? as mine takes a hell of a long time to get out of low box.

Just came on the dash 4wd system error. It was a switch / sensor that senses when its engaged 4wd that had gone faulty. Its on top of the transfer box.

I have no issues with my transfer box, i engage / disengage mine often whist just creeping along, found that you don't have to actually stop for it to work.

Still its not in the same league as the mitsubishi super select system which is far superior.

It is now but they had their share of troubles after being launched in the Transit. The engine is refined and pulls like a train while now that its injectors have been sorted, as far as I know it is reliable.
My brother couldn't stop ranting on about the new ranger.said it pulls well, better than his 3.2 ranger.hope it more reliable than the previous models.especially the ones with adblue.all the ones he's had have had issues with it.

have i got this right, they are stopping importing the navara to the UK?
when will this be?
Possibly yes at the end of the year

I don’t think its all that clear, but it doesn’t look good given production is due to end in Spain this year. However the current Navara as we know it is probably on its last facelift, so my hope is that they have just decided not to offer this in Europe for now due to low sales as it seems pointless in adapting the Spanish plant to make the new model when its due to close in a few months. To be honest the facelift looks to be mainly cosmetic anyhow.

They could yet decide to import the facelift model from another factory into Europe when the Spanish plant closes, or introduce the all new Navara thats in the pipeline for circa 2023 which is rumoured could be a common Mitsubishi / Nissan platform as part of the Nissan / Renault alliance, Nissan owns a good part of Mitsubishi I believe.

Fight for a ' special deal ' on a new vehicle.

At the same time, set up a deal with a competitor trading in your New Nissan with less than 50 miles on the clock.

Nope - oil immersed timing belt snapping which lunches the head and cam carrier, debris blocking the oil strainer with lunches the bottom end. Widespread.

Yes I know but it was caused by fuel contamination from leaking injectors. It isn't only the timing belt as I understand it but the belt that drives the variable displacement lubricating oil pump, hence the bearings seizing up rather than valves and pistons colliding. However the main timing belt can also fail. Both are wet type. When this happens the valves tend to be OK along with pistons, due to the valves being vertical, but the cam lobes will have turned on the camshaft. The lobes are shrink to fit, not a solid piece of metal with the shaft. The shafts are not removable individually and run without bushes or bearings in a carrier web. They are replaced as a complete unit.

Whether these engines still have a high failure rate is not known by me at this time but it seems to have gone very quiet about it lately.

Ford must surely have sorted the issue by now. This engine range is far too important for them not to have as it is fitted across such a wide range of vehicles from Transit to Mondeo to Ranger to Focus

This is the new Nissan Frontier which is the American Navara. This is what we should be getting in the UK and it would sell very well with a good Diesel engine installed, matched with the Mercedes 9 G-Tronic automatic which Nissan/Jatco build under license.

The Ford is very good indeed at towing, especially with their new twin turbo engine and 10 speed automatic . The suspension is just so very stable whether unladen, laden or towing 3.5 tons of unruly cattle in a box. I haven't tried a recent of the new model, but I suspect that the Isuzu isn't too bad for a lower power alternative.
The choice is narrowing rather suddenly for some reason. By the end of this year it will be down to these two and Toyota by the looks of it. Personally wouldn't risk the Ssangyong until they are on a sounder financial footing.

Over the next few years there is the possibility, albeit not a strong one, that the Ineos Grenadier will be imported as a [very expensive] pickup and there may be one or two electric models on offer, although probably not the Tesla truck, if only because it is too big and wide for Europe. It is probable that the next joint-venture Ford/VW truck will be offered as an electric model.

Trouble is there is no replacement for displacement. The Ford is a great truck, I’m just not a ford fan. The 10 speed is questionable, so many issues with it in the states. If Nissan had kept a decent engine in the navara it would have been a better truck. Recently bought a late disco 4 for longer journeys towing. Just need a truck going forward which will end up being a Toyota at some point I imagine unless I can put an m57 bmw engine into an np300. [emoji6]

The 2.0 twin turbo eco-blue is in a different league of performance when combined with the ten speed automatic compared to the older 3.2 five cylinder. It really is a combination that is probably unbeatable currently. I haven't got one myself but I have driven one and pocked about with its settings and performance in differing driving conditions and apart from the V6 Amarok, which is otherwise a dead plain and boring vehicle and not in current production, there is nothing out there new that is in the same class.
I'm fairly sure that Ford have sorted any issues out by now.
