Nectar flower mix establishment

Just been accepted into a mid tier scheme for 2020 to 2025. I've got to establish some nectar flower mixes on some land which was drilled with osr last autumn which, typically has survived the csfb onslaught better than the rest of the field.
Looking at the dates in the agreement it says to establish the mix between 15 April and 31 May or 15 july and 30 August. If I go for the later date does it mean that I can take the osr to harvest first and then drill the mix?
When I applied I was under the impression that I would have to rip the rape up if I was accepted into the scheme. I'm about to go through with kerb and I don't want to spray the area if it's got to come up in spring.

We put ours in the earlier slot just to get it going in some warmth and it’s paid dividends as it’s fully established. I didn’t think we’d need to top 50% of it in year one like the rules state but we certainly did as it grew to chest height.

Propyzamide and flower mixes do not go together in my opinion, even if applied 7months pre establishment of the flower mix, if necessary do please plough pre flower mix!

Astrokerb would be even worse!

@Fubar you've got the first year of the agreement to establish the mix. After osr I'd spend some time getting a good seedbed and killing osr volunteers & slugs with multiple passes. Sow in early September by broadcasting and rolling in. The seed mustn't be sown deeper than 1/2". Top the hell out of it regularly the following year to allow the slower establishing perennials to get going.

Do not put the kerb on the it’s you intend to plant with nector mix
then after harvest lightly disc the area till it is very fine a cereal seedbed is not fine enough then spread the seed on either drill but coulters not in ground and covering Harrow lightly then roll
when it grows it may not look to be very good with rape growing with it .the rape will give the slugs something to keep them occupied then the following spring give it time to grow
planting too early in the spring is the biggest danger of failure June or July give better establishment

i was inspected this year. . Do not let any one drive or walk through the strips
plant a bit extra make sure the area on the ground is at least as big as the claimed area in each field parcel
once Established it is a very profitable option be very care full spraying crops next to the nectar mix if you have a bit extra you can cut the edge extra times to controll weeds
