sorry i was referring to lack of police enforcement left due to cuts, thinking there would be no money left for them to pay people to enforce rules which are complied with essentially by bps.

Saying that we are wilfully shitting on our selves and paying for it in one respect with red tractor, and the rules we have to adhere to with that!! what can you do though?

If you’re not a farmer then you can do whatever you want

Not strictly true; Section 8 of the regulations actually refers to 'person' so it would apply to anyone.

8.—(1) No person shall use a plant protection product authorised for professional use unless
they hold a specified certificate or work under supervision.
(2) No person shall cause or permit any other person to use a plant protection product authorised
for professional use unless the person using the product holds a specified certificate or works
under supervision.

Although it would be virtually impossible to enforce with 'Joe Public' as first the authorities would have to prove it was a 'plant protection product' being used (I'm just applying liquid fertiliser guv') and secondly the powers of entry in the regulations don't apply to 'any premises used wholly or mainly as a private dwelling' . So if you keep your Glyphosate in the kitchen they can't take a look.

On a serious note, what is one learning for £170??? The safe handling side is covered in the PA1, so what is left to learn with a knapsack?
Calibration? A simple equation. Maintenance of said knapsack? What else is there to know?

@Brisel What did it entail?

You’ve questioned that and answered it all in one go

They won’t need police to do it. All the little hitlers that currently work for the RPA will be transferred to ‘crucify em’ duties, from their current job of ‘feck em over, they’re all guilty anyway’.

Correct. Nor is it compulsory for farmers to accept sub if they don't want to be bothered with all the bureaucratic nonsense that goes with it.
Haha I wish I was in that position!

I know there’s a lot of other people wish they were in that position too!

Tell me what is your secret?

To me all this PA whatever bollox is a total waste of time, I don’t know one person that actually wears there space suit once they’ve pasted the tests. It just gets chucked in the cupboard never to see light of day again !.

I mean “you can’t touch your sprayer without your space suit on” but your not aloud in the cab wearing it. So mister testing man “how do I turn my sprayer on/off” when I have to reach out the back window and flick the levers over ?.
Apparently this is a grey area !.

@Brisel What did it entail?

Legislation
PPE
When and where to spray/not spray
Maintenance
Nozzle choice
Calibration
Dummy runs using a fake product
Don't underestimate how long it takes to get an even pace to get the dose rate right.

The bit that I vacan understand is how would the weeds know if you have a ticket or not ?
It goes a bit like this-

Inspector-I can see some Weeds in your field have you sprayed them?
No- ok there’s a penalty
Yes ok where’s your chemicals,chemical store, sprayer, spraying records, spraying license
A bit like that

Most just pour a gurgle of roundup straight out of the drum into a knapsack. Far too busy filling in forms to be messing around with sticky dusty measures.
