Needing a job in New Zealand

Hey, not sure if this is the right place to post this.
I am 34yo from the states.
I moved to Christchurch NZ 4 months ago on a 9 month visitors visa.
I got my WTR endorsements but I can not find a job.
I am needing a work visa but I can not get a work visa without being sponsored.

Does anyone know of anyone that is looking for help and can sponsor me?

I have a lot of experience with machinery, mechanic and farmhand work.

I am willing to do any job.
Thanks in advance

What class driving license do you have?
Have you got the Seek and Trade Me apps on your phone, they have a good list of jobs. As you've found out the visa thing is likely to be a big issue.
Maybe some of the big Ag contractors

The sponsoring bit might be a bit tricky. As an employer you have to prove you have tried and failed to hire a nz citizen for a specific job as part of the process. I guess you have been contacting businesses to try and find something? You could try calling McCarthy Contracting, they are a larger ag contracting business based just south of the city. Robert or Rachel would be good to talk to, they might be able to give you some pointers even if they don’t have any jobs going.

I have a class 1 but I am getting a class 2 in two months. I have to hold a NZ class 1 for 6 months before I can get the class 2

I do have the Trademe and Seek apps.
I'm applying to jobs everyday but no one wants to mess with a Visa.
So many jobs say not to apply if you don't have a valid work visa.
I was also trying to find a construction job as I have 10 years experience operating construction machinery.
But still no luck

Quite a few large contractors in mid Canterbury. Try Molloy ag if you can or could drive a sprayer,I know they where accredited with nz immigration a few years back, don't know if they still are. Also Quiqleys,May brothers and Jackson and Holmes around Methven/Ashburton area.

Some of the big contractors used to go through the process of hiring staff on a work visa other than the working holiday visa, but there's a bit to it.
I think they basically get permission for x number of visas then recruit or give them to people who have previously worked for them on the working holiday visa, but I don't know if they still do it.
Things have changed since I had to get the bloody things.

Construction has I think slowed down a bit due to recession and the Christchurch rebuild slowing down.
The number of jobs on the apps has reduced in the last 6 months.

Can any of the agencies help?

Thank you everyone for the help, I truly appreciate everyone's time and trouble.

I have heard that it has become more difficult over the last year to get a working visa.
Which really figures that it is harder now that I am here.

I was also told that construction has slowed down, when I planned on moving here 9 Months ago I was told that road construction is a great thing to go into here. But now that I am here, I am told that everyone has been laid off and no one can find a job.

My fiance is from Cambodia, if worse comes to worse, I will move back to the states for a year or two, save up and then go live in Cambodia for a while haha

Ask on the NZ farming facebook pages, there are plenty of AEWV employers out there who want staff. Don't expect big wages or a flash house though.

I have joined up on quite a few NZ farming facebook groups. I can't find any AEWV employers, I'm not sure where else to look.
Right now, I don't care about big wages or a nice house, just needing a job to make a little money to stay here
