Neighbours Dogs Sh*t

Afternoon
We have a field in the middle of the village, took the collie pup for walk to check the lambs and found someone has been chucking dog sh”t into my field.
I know the guy in a house has dogs.
My initial thoughts are go back later after work and chuck it back over prob take pick up / tractor to make some noise/ lights on etc so knows I’m there.

Deal with any confrontation.

My sister who is staying for a while suggests knock on the door and ask him if it’s is ! ffs not my job to educate someone who will probably move on in a few months

Be interested to hear what others have done sure I’m not the first !

Had a neighbour that did exactly this gathered it all up in a big pan then tossed it into the landlords field with the Sheep in. Worse bit was he should have known better

We had a neighbour who piped his kennels drain through a hedge so he could wash the pens and sh1t down it.

Tolerated it for a while and thankfully he has changed it.

Problem is we get on really well so I avoided making an issue of it.

Should have said something but it resolved itself.

I sometimes wonder what local councillors are meant to do. I've never had a reply from them the few times I've tried to make contact. But solving minor disputes like this is really their job, not something the courts want to waste time on. Why should we break the law to retain our own rights? We have the right to "the peaceful enjoyment of our own property".

I'd put a note through his door first (not addressed to him but made out like it's a round robin) explaining that dog faeces is a serious risk to livestock, use big words like neospora.
If it carries on, then yes all over his windows and door handle.

A like-for-like proportionate response based on the relative number of animals owned. If he is willing to share the turd from his one dog with you, you could return the favour with that from all your sheep, plus that from the collie pup just for good measure.

Oh, and what the hell, because you are being so generous add in the contents of the septic tank just as an added bonus!

It probably would but spreading rumours about them being a sex offender is taking things way too far
I have first hand experience of something along these lines from a neighbour who I asked politely to stop their dogs running through my crops.
If anyone thinks its smart or funny to make accusations like this.......I'd like to see how funny you think it is when your on the receiving end of it.

He may not realise he is doing anything particularly wrong. If you can confirm he is the culprit, I would go round and ask him to dispose of it some other way as it a serious health hazard to your lambs.
