Neil Oliver

Neil Oliver the guy who used to present coast with the lovely Alice Roberts

Always had him down as a leftie, university lecturor type. But they love him on GB news & fits right into their agenda.

So is Neil Oliver a tart who says anything to be listened to or did the BBC employ people who are right of centre?

Always had Alice Roberts as a middle class leftie Doctor type. Wonder how she got on with Neil Oliver

He's a very clever chap and is a lot shorter than you might think too; that aside, I don't think he is really to the 'right' politically. I've seen him interviewed a number of times recently, he comes across as more of a libertarian classical-liberal with some small 'c' conservative tendencies.

The thing is, he is a Scot in Scotland and, at the moment, anyone not supporting the SNP up there is labelled as a 'right-winger', 'red-Tory' or what have you by the SNP and its mob.

Guff. Why is it that people who do not live in our communities seem to think that they know how we think or label other people? Do you honestly think that as a nation we are incapable of thinking out with right, left or center? I may agree with some policy on one side of the fence and agree with a policy on the opposite. Political debate is about policy and laws and should be about doing the right thing according to a moral code which you are open to the public about. Neil Oliver has his own views , doesn't make him wrong, neither does it mean he is right.

Yes very true.

Right & Left is becoming an old fashioned idea.

I'm really right wing about somethings & a proper leftie about other subjects.

I like Neil Olivers programmes he has been educating me now for 20 years & really enjoyed him.

I'm generally right leaning, some things I'm extremely right wing about but equally I can be to the left on certain topics too.
For this reason I find voting to be a bit of a moral conundrum.

Similarly I find supporting social groups like a religion or a football team to be a tad pointless because I won't agree with everything they say or do, so I don't particularly want to be represented by or be associated with them, or at least certain aspects of them anyway.

Guff. Misconstruing on a classic scale...:banghead:

I didn't write about you 'as a nation', I wrote about the SNP and their mob, which I am pleased to write makes up a far smaller proportion of Scots than they would have us believe. (y)

But they, as a group, do label anyone not 'on side' as I have stated. And a fair number of them also try to bully other Scots into doing so too, calling them all sorts of names in the process. If you want to deny this as being so, fair enough, but it goes against what others in your communities have experienced.

But maybe he should keep to telling us about Neolithic axe heads rather than his political views. But it's interesting how many TV personalities have taken to giving their views since the referendum. I always used to think Laurence Fox was a decent chap and a good actor but he turned out to be a very unpleasant fellow. :scratchhead:

Because you don't agree with him? I think that's called projection.

Are you an unpleasant fellow because you wanted / want my children to grow up without a democracy?

Edit to add: can't remember you ever being critical of remainer 'personalities'...

Well vote for Laurence Fox, I am sure he will endeavour to remove all your democratic rights, but all in the cause of protecting your white Britishness. :D

Well, I am white and British and not ashamed of either and very happy for both to be protected as and when necessary. As you too must be in EUtopia, with your white European-'ness' being protected:

Umm, I think they are just as entitled as we are on this forum to express their views, don't you?

But our opinions don't count for anything compared to people in the public eye. But I am sure if a forum member started posting white supremacist hate speech for example, it would be removed and the member banned. Plus, if it was of sufficient severity the authorities informed.
