it kills bees when used incorrectly.
Used as a seed dressing on non flowering crops there is no evidence that it harms bees, unlike the other insecticides which may have to be used overall to eradicate the pest that a seed dressing could have prevented
Where is the NFU?
They should be correcting the narrative.
Unions here do, faced with the same sh!t, they fight for us.

I dont know the facts but if it kills Bees it cannot be good where ever it comes from
Yes i am no fan of the BBC but if it really kills the Bees and other pollinators that cannot be good can it?

Cars, Lorries, Trains kill not just Bees but most flying insects, mammals and birds.
Perhaps we should ban those.

Towns & Cities have reduced food sources, nesting sites and habitat, kill not just Bees but most flying insects, mammals and birds.
Perhaps we should ban those.

But they won't be because they aren't farmers.

HS2 is going through literally 10s if not 100s of SSSIs - supposedly the most protected habitats in the UK. I have a letter from the Environment Agency telling the DTI how to bypass their legislation.

Farmers provide many habitats for all life - including crops and animals for people to survive. The BBC & Government provide nothing for anything to survive.

I note that imported crops grown using Neonicitinoids "Some how" have bullet proof bees. Perhaps that's because those people aren't getting paid in the UK ?

I think if there is proof that a spray or seed dressing is definitely damaging Bees and other invertabrates it is probably wise not to use it where ever .

Think about it like this

What is likely to be worse for flying insects

1. A seed dressing that is buried in the soil (with the seed)
Or
2. No seed dressing, but lots of open air spraying of pyrethroid insecticides.

Look at the effect of the ban
Less OSR grown so less pollen / habitat for the bees.
The beekeeper on our farm said neonics hadn't affected his bees.
Several years ago, it was suggested that the French evidence suggesting neonics harmed bees was flawed.
The French banned neonics, in true France style - if they couldn't use neonics then they'd make damn sure the rest of the EU couldn't use neonics either.
Typical EU madness.

Thats the thing, don't think there is proof it is.
I did read once that were doing tests in Germany, UK, Czech on bees.
All used the neonectacid on crops
Uk and Czech bees were dying.
German not.
Uk and Czech had/have bad veroa infections, Germany not...

Of course now ALL insects die in any rape grown as need general purpose insecticide instead on targeted one that was banned.

My wife worked on the Stirling Uni paper on neonics back in the day. The bees were dosed directly with the chemical, they were not dosed with nectar or pollen from treated plants.

Allegedly the student administering the doses also picked out the big bees first as they were easier to get a hold off which skewed the results as it showed big bees more susceptible than small bees. She left quite disillusioned with conservation science.
